Alston Youth Hostel Description
Alston Youth Hostel is situated right on the Pennine Way on the edge of Alston Town in a quiet location. We are also on the C2C (Coast to Coast) cycle route and can cater for large groups of up to 30 people. We have 7 dormitories with private rooms available.
All town amenities are within 5 mins walking distance including a Spar, Co-Op, 3 pubs, cash points and banks.
Meals can be provided on request or there are excellent self catering, laundry and drying room facilities. We have a secure indoor cycle shed which can take up to 20 cycles plus a large car park that will take approximately 12 vehicles. Alston is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and there are great walks and cycle routes directly from the hostel. It's a great base to explore the North Pennines, The Lakes and Northumberland.

We're not just cyclist and walker friendly! Those who need a bit more speed are also very welcome! So pop over the Hartside Pass and stay a while in Alston!

This hostel has obviously just been renovated and is looking great! It has all the usual excellent features of a youth hostel - great self-catering facilities, lots of communal space and information, plus extra little touches. The managers are super friendly and helpful.

I hired the whole of the hostel for sole use May bank holiday weekend for a annual trip taking in walks and a get together....have stayed in many hostels and the Hostw at Alston is certainly the best we have stayed
In (saying that most of others have been good).....everything you need from a hostel but with a lovely homely and comfortable feel ....great facilities and great show from the red squirrels and birds through the viewing windows. The area is outstanding for walking and the town really friendly.....this really is a top place to stay....we will be back
Hired 6 bed dorm for me and friends doing Coast to Coast ride. Check in was extremely welcoming and facilities fully explained. Room basic (as you'd expect) but clean and warm. Breakfast amazing. Never stayed YHA before but would stay here again!

Great hosts, great quiet location, beds warm and clean, basically all the facilities available were fantastic for a bunch of wet and cold cyclists. Since my stay this facility has been placed on the 'Cycling in the North East' database for friendly places to stay.
