HAPPY APRIL FOOLS' DAY! Earlier today we revealed that to celebrate the launch of Wicker Man, our latest attraction that combines wood and fire, our Rollercoaster Restaurant was set to serve food to diners in wooden bowls that would be on fire! This was in fact an April fool - well done to all those who spotted it.

Things are set to HOT up in Rollercoaster Restaurant! To celebrate the recent launch of Wicker Man we will soon be serving a number of our delicious dishes - in wooden bowls that will literally be on fire!!! The dishes have been cleverly engineered to withstand the Rollercoaster Restaurant's intricate network of loops and spiraling tracks before reaching diners, who will each be issued with specialist Wicker Man branded protective gloves and mini fire extinguisher that will extinguish the flaming bowl on arrival to the table without affecting the food within. Each bowl has been created from off cuts of the theme park’s new wooden rollercoaster, Wicker Man, which is created from 7,500 tonnes of specially treated wood. More info coming soon....

Fantastic! Staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. Meals were easy (and fun!) to order and food came quickly. Although maybe not as hot as I would like it, was well prepared and tasted great. It was quite fun 'table sharing' with other groups, waiting to see who's food was coming next and comparing dishes. Atmosphere was really family-friendly and service was top notch. Staff went above and beyond for our kids birthdays. Can't fault it - really glad we went!

Just back after our 4th visit. Never been disappointed here. Yes the food is expensive, just as everything in a theme park. But the kids loved it and there was plenty of choice. Being able to order from the iPads themselves, then watch their food whizz down ensured happy kids who ate their dinner. Lovely server Beth who couldn’t help enough. Bit of a wait to be seated, more to do with people in front of us at a the door.

User

A really great concept and lots of fun! The food was a little average (hence only 4 stars) but good for families with young children. The anticipation waiting and watching for your food to arrive by roller coaster is brilliant! It was a bit vague how you get a table, but there are no reservations so don’t be fooled by services offering them! Just turn up and wait for a table to be free, give yourself at least 20 minutes for queuing. P.S. No alcohol served on Sundays :-)

We were disappointed last year on our day out to Alton Towers to find the restaurant was fully booked so when we decided to come for an overnight we decided to book a table for 4 so our Sons could enjoy it. We were booked at 5.45pm but needed to change our youngest so asked to use the facilities, said we are booked in in half an hour, the lady said that's fine we'll get you in now if you want, bonus 30 mins early. Sorted everything and set about choosing our stuff. The concept is fab, the meals, drinks and stuff are a bit overpriced, we are sat close to where they send stuff down from so the food was just about perfect when we got it, pretty much everything came at the same time too. It's fun and quirky especially for the kids.

User

So disappointed with the food here today. It really wasn’t good and especially for the price. My daughters food did not arrive so we had to re order it. My husbands food was really not nice at all. When we asked one of the waitresses if he could order something else, as it was that bad, she simply said we could but would still have to pay for the meal he didn’t want! Really poor customer service.

On a positive, we really liked the concept of the restaurant, enjoyed the music and watching the food and drink arrive.

User

Nice idea but you shouldn't sacrifice food quality! First of all we booked a table but had to que a while to actually get in! Then the main courses were poor considering the money I paid!! The burgers we had were dry and tasteless! The drinks and desserts were ok. Overall I was disappointed with the food but liked the idea of serving food on rollercoaster tracks. Probably won't go back...

User

The whole point of going to this restaurant was to experience the “rollercoaster” bring your meal to the table. Unfortunately this did not happen. Waited for 45 minutes for food, only for a waitress to bring over our food to say it has been sitting at an empty table. The food was average and everything was way over priced.

User

The food was ok. The staff is over run.

If you ask for cutlery the staff won’t hand you it. They put it under the most inaccessible ledge under the tracks. Even when they walk past you with it.

The only good thing is the entertainment value of the food coming down the rollercoaster tracks.

Myself and husband went for lunch today. The restaurant is a great idea it’s clean and quirky something totally difference. However as most people have commented it’s totally overpriced for what can only be described as a below average meal. I’ve had better food at a 2 for 1 pub. We ordered nachos and for £5:50 for just one handful of nachos was just day light robbery! We both ordered burgers mine was very dry and over cooked and it came first my chips decided to arrive 10 minutes later and still waiting for husbands meal his burger arrived but still not received his chips which we had to ask for after he had finished his burger! We did mention on paying about the service and they gave us 10% discount. Glad we went without the kids dread to think the cost if they did come. We won’t be going back

User

Lots of families having a good time, but also lots of people requesting refunds and moaning about their food. The loop was not working correctly and all food to our table was delayed by 55 mins. When food arrived it was an ok quality... certainly not worth £15 for a burger. Servers were courteous and friendly, manager did not care and blamed us for the wrong orders even though the ordering tablets clearly stated what we had ordered. Good luck finding your food when it arrives, each table is shared by up to 3 groups and you probably won't get a ticket telling you it's your food because "they fall out" meaning we spent time opening other people's food and apologising trying to not touch it. Great for gimmicks, terrible for a meal out.

User

It's like someone had a great idea for an Amazing restaurant and then got bored halfway through it's building. The food is completely overpriced. £15 for a burger which quite frankly wasn't as nice a 99p MacDonald cheese burger! Food wasnt that warm by the time it reached me, although those dining with me said their food was an OK temperature so maybe I was unlucky. Triple chicken stack was just average and again 15 quid. Chicken curry tasted like a micro meal and 13 quid. Kids meal was OK but nothing special. 2 kids ice creams were fine. Food comes down tracks but doesn't quite reach your table so if your on the end like us then you have to rely on the diners further up your table to slide them down your way. Also if your on the end, you end up with all the little.rollercoaster food carriers from other diners which you have to whack in the bin situated at the end of each table. Lots of food kept getting stuck so you'd see staff with poles trying to push them along and random bottles.of sand would be sent down the tracks too to try and push stuff along. You have to plate up your own food onto cold plates which are held.on your table along with cutlery, glasses.etc. Staff were friendly enough but you don't really see them until they want payment. Overpriced and a disappointment. Even the kids weren't really blown away!

User

I have given the place 2 as I took my brownies there yesterday and for them it was fun experience, the idea is great and it’s fun for kids how ever food service is very slow,we couldn’t quite understand the ordering on the tablets :-/ we had one girl who had to have dairy free and there was nothing on the kids menu she could have in the end we had to speak to a manger I think and the only thing they could off was plain grilled chicken, when it arrived it was the chicken on the kids menu that was battered so we had to send it back she then had to wait 20 mins for it to be sent out again by which time everyone else had eaten, one of our adults meals came out 15 mins after others, wasn’t impressed that some food came out then it was along wait for the next lot :-/ howeve the dairy free kids meal was taken off our bill after I complained :-/ food is well over priced for what you get would I eat there again? No I wouldn’t sorry

User

Great concept but totally anti climatic!

It was a bit confusing to figure out of we order everything under one table number or all 4. Staff weren't very willing to explain that either. When the food did come, one meal came down 25mins before anything else. When we finally tracked down a server we were told thats what happens when it's busy?! The food was ok, nothing special and certainly not worth the price. Some things were also missing but given the length of time we waited, we couldn't be bothered questioning it.

User

Eaten here 4 times first twice I couldn't fault it last twice we've had several problems with food not arriving together or not arriving at all. Dined in a party of 5 last week 2 adults, 3 children - 2 adults meals and 1 child's meal arrived over 15 mins later the other 2 kids got fed. Very Disappointing

User

Over priced food - ordered 5 meals - 3 burgers - one nachos and a mac cheese - squashed 5 of us into a seating area for 4! Even thou they were not terribly busy - food was ok but nothing special and chips were awful.

Restaurant was far too hot - complained to staff who couldn't care less. - it's a wonder they haven't had customers passing out in there.

We just had a quick meal and left - had it been cooler we would have had dessert but couldn't wait to get out !!!!

Would not bother to go again .....

User

I’d give a far higher star rating for novelty and entertainment. Unfortunately, the food was pretty poor and prices much inflated. Children’s chicken guojons were burned. Ordered replacement, also burned. Missing items along the way. Chicken curry tasted like a Tesco ready meal and the chicken stack was a mush. We didn’t stay for pudding as the kids refused (and that’s saying something!) Inattentive staff, had to get up and search for a willing waiter to help us even find simple things like forks, was sorry that I had to break up the chit chat amoungst the staff so that we could eat! Total bill for 2 adults and 3 kids £140 - felt cheated.

User

Great concept having food delivered to your table via rollercoaster tracks, but very overpriced for the quality of food that you get. Your food doesn’t come all at the same time either even when you order it all at once on the tablets, my partner had finished his food before mine had even arrived. There also seems to be a lack of basic food hygiene too as we were both up all night with food poisoning. Please don’t waste your money coming here.

User

For almost £40 for myself and two children I was incredibly disappointed with my visit yesterday, 29 May. On arrival we were informed there may be a slight delay in when the food arrives, but I did not anticipate the extent that one child would have eaten her meal before the second child’s arrived, and the second child be finished before mine arrived. So expensive and we didn’t get to eat and enjoy the experience together!

User

Absolutely shocking how bad this place is! Our desserts came first & were already melted (ice cream) so instead of offering to make fresh desserts for after our meal they stuck them in the freezer which you are absolutely not supposed to do, one would think a restaurant would know this. One of the desserts were a warm chocolate fondant with ice cream so I'm sure you can imagine my reaction when I got a frozen one given to me, the children were sick when we left and now got D&V.. Main meals are just as bad, the chicken was so dry & hard I could barely cut it, the chips were rock solid. Curry was like a micro curry & the kids burgers? I don't even know what to say about them except SHOCKING. The service is unbelievable, our table were pre booked so you expect your table to be ready, obviously don't mind a few minutes waiting but we were stood in a queue for at least 15 with my children one of which has autism. When we got back to our hotel is rang the restaurant and the girl I spoke with was actually quite nice and told us to go back today and the manager would see us, my partner went because I was at hotel with our sick children, they then threatened to get security to throw him out because he told them what had happened. I will be making a formal complaint to alton towers about them. We spent a lot of money in there and should not have been treated so badly. I definitely would not recommend this place
