It is now over a decade since some of the UK's leading project finance experts came together to create Altra Capital, with the aim of providing the highest level of commercial capability, strategy and management to where it is most needed: in the fast growing economies of the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and South and East Asia. Drawn from the major consultancy firms, law firms, banks, asset managers, property developers and government agencies, our senior team have all taken on leading roles in delivering some of the world's most high profile infrastructure and real estate investments. Without the financial overheads and prohibitive fee structures of larger firms we are able to make this valuable experience available in a responsive and affordable way to countries competing for a limited pool of high quality advisors to attract risk averse capital. Among our recent successes is our continuing assistance to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – where ourrole as Subject Matter Experts in public policy for PPPs has led to important commissions including drafting PPP guidelines for the healthcare sector and designing the innovative Musharakah Access to Finance Programme for SMEs; in Peru we have been involved with the structuring of the first ground- breaking hospital PPP projects; and on behalf of the UK government we have undertaken PPP Readiness Assessments in over 12 African countries, supporting policy, capacity building and prioritising the development of bankable projects.
