Wonderful! As a restaurant should be, excellent service & very friendly & polite staff. Still has the trolley for filleting & flambaying by your table & the delicious dessert trolley. Great menu, lots of choice, out food was perfect. Cosy bar to sit & have a drink whilst deciding on the menu. Our favourite restaurant from now on, just wished we lived nearer. Thank you Alvaro’s!!

Went for my Dad's 81st birthday, but all the family enjoyed the old fashioned service, taking coats, pulling chairs out etc. Attentive service and staff made my little girl feel like a princess. Wide variety of dishes. Cosy atmosphere. Everything we had was lovely. Freddy and his staff should be commended for sticking to a tried and tested formula....great food and great service.

We've been dining at Alvaros since they opened 38 years ago and I've never had a disappointing meal. The choice is amazing. Their vegetables are always cooked to perfection. Their steak melts in your mouth. I love the dishes they cook at your table. My husband always has the mariscos espetada. It is a spectacular dish of prawns and scallops wrapped in bacon hanging on a skewer over your plate with garlic butter dripping from it. He loves it. I try to have different dishes fir main course but tend to have fresh asparagus with olive oil, garlic and Parmesan for my first course. The asparagus is thick, juicy and tender and just delicious. The dessert trolley is mouthwatering and their cheese board has a good variety of quality cheeses. A good selection of champagne, wines and spirits. The waiters are dressed smartly and know about the menu. It really is the best restaurant in town for me. I can't praise them enough.

We went to celebrate birthdays, the meal was excellent the menu amazing. The staff were amazing. We haven't been for a few years but we were not disappointed. Thank you Alvaros.

We first went to Alvaros two weeks ago and went again on Friday. Attentive but not obtrusive service, huge choice of dishes including vegetarian, all cooked perfectly. Will definitely be going back soon. H

The food was amazing.. plenty of choice, even from the set menu and everything cooked to perfection.. even the vegetables are amazing. This is a wonderful restaurant, with a first class service from the staff. Alvaro's is definitely worth a visit and we will be returning soon.

Just been here for Sunday lunch. It was the first time I have been here but it DEFINITELY won't be my last! As well as the great food we were treated to the theatre of food being prepared for other diners at their table. I even got to perform a couple of magic tricks for the other diners. The only problem is that we saw so many great looking dished we won't know what to order next time.

It's simply the best!!! Best food, best service and best atmosphere!

If you want fine wines, great food choices and excellent service then give it a try. Always a great meal and staff are friendly without being intrusive. A really great independent local restaurant.

Best restaurant in town for old fashioned service (i.e. Very courteous and attentive) and delicious food. Many of the dishes are served with delicious rich sauces and some are actually cooked freshly beside your table. Lots of tasty Portuguese dishes as well as French and other haute cuisine food. Freddy has been running this place for decades and always buys fresh produce so the specials menu can vary daily. It's tucked away but easy to find off Hamlet Court Rd and there's always parking nearby or even outside in the evening. Well worth visiting for a memorable meal in traditional surroundings.

Been going here regularly for over 20 years, my husband for even longer!!! Definitely our favourite restaurant, the food, the service and the atmosphere cannot be faulted. Love it xxx
