Amélies, Porthleven keep the fish fresh and local by sourcing most of our seafood within 20 miles of Porthleven. Except for the squid and prawns, not found locally, all our fish is caught in Cornish waters.
Our mussels are gently pulled from the Helford and River Ex, and The Oyster Lady supplies all our Porthilly Oysters. If you’re local, you will know that Chris the crab man delivers the finest Cornish crab and lobster....Sure, Portuguese lobster is cheaper but the Amélie...s family believe in supporting local families and the local lobster tastes better too.
Every day is fish day at Amélies and we are proud to work with Wild Harbour Fish Co. Ltd who source the finest sustainable seafood in the west country. Try the Cornish Lobster, your taste buds will thank you, or a hot or cold sharing plank…whoever you share it with will be forever grateful.

This is Kate, Also Known As 'Womble'
Assistant Restaurant & Event Manager at Amélies, Porthleven and Amélies Events, Womble brings a smile that will lighten up your life and bring more joy to your day.
Born in the far away land of Northern Ireland, Womble grew up in Porthleven where her heart has made its home. While she briefly escaped Cornwall to earn her Degree in Events Management from Plymouth University, that's in another far away land, the charm of Kernow brought h...er back to Porthleven.
Womble considers herself the 'black sheep' of the family; we think that's a good thing as we love people, places, and food that stands out from the crowd. One of the main goals of Womble and the Amélies family is to help you you feel warm and gooey inside...and there are some lovely warm and gooey items on the menu to help.

The Amélies, Porthleven family love celebrating the strong community and rich history here in Porthleven.
This gem of a village is thought to borrow its name from St Elvan - a chapel in the village dating back to 1270 – unfortunately destroyed in 1549. The sea and coastline caused much destruction in this part of Cornwall, and the area was once a treacherous black spot for ships of sail with many wrecks leading to Porthleven becoming a harbour of refuge.
Those treacherous se...as are now a top British attraction for surfing enthusiasts and kayakers alike. Massive swells and waves, regularly topping 2 metres break on a shallow reef – and the spot has been called ‘Cornwall’s Best Reef Break’. Thankfully the RNLI patrol the area to assist anyone caught out of their depth.
Famous folk from the village include Dambusters Commanding Officer, Guy Gibson and British Racing Driver Chris Craft who can claim Porthleven as their hometown. Many more famous residents are out there – let us know who we are missing?
For the geologists and nature enthusiasts, Porthleven is home to four SSSIs – that is Sites of Specific Scientific interest at the Cliffs, Cliffs East, Wheal Penrose or ‘Giant’s Rock and Loe Pool, known as Loe Bar, Cornwall’s largest natural lake. Of course, the area forms part of Cornwall’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with coast paths to help intrepid explorers appreciate the stunning natural beauty of the area.
After all that exploring, make your way to Amélies where we will refresh and reinvigorate you with fresh, local seafood, produce, and a relaxed atmosphere.

Sam is a Managing Partner at Amélies and has a passion for Gourmet Picnics.
Sam studied at Falmouth College and has a deep love for the area. Her goal at Amélies, Porthleven is to create unforgettable moments that make you feel warm and gooey inside. Creating these moments means there's never enough time for supporting Spurs or devoting time to her passion for Star Wars.
The force is strong with Sam, and we think she is a Jedi-Master when it comes to creating unforgettable... moments with an unforgettable team in an unforgettable location with unforgettable food.
Sam wants to share the Amélies love with you, and we think she gets some of that love from her father Norman. Norman was the man behind Trident studios, but that's a story for another day. In his book, Norman said “My aim at the time was to make sure everyone enjoyed working at Trident...I wanted people to be happy. Maintaining a good atmosphere was top of the my list of priorities.”
Sam carries that same aim from her father - making sure everyone enjoys working at Amélies and is happy. The award winning Amélies team will win you over with their fresh, local produce, seafood and delectable menu.
Book a table - Sam says Table 21 is one of her favourites - and feel the love that flows from Sam and the Amélies family.

This is Steve - Operations Manager at Amélies, Porthleven.
Steve makes sure everything is running smoothly and that all meets the expectations of each and every customer.
Steve grew up in the midlands but studied at Plymouth University. Former competitive swimmer, lifeguard, and cruise-line cocktail flarer, Steve also has a huge passion for great coffee - Amélies sources theirs from the outstanding Cornish Coffee Company in Redruth.
... Steve has travelled the world, but as a surfer, Cornish waters always draw him back to the delectable Duchy. When he's not creating a smooth flow at Amélies you might find Steve at one of his favourite surfing spots - Godrevy!
Steve says, "The best thing about working here is being part of the Amélies family, having great local musicians like Gwellhelin, Jonathon Coudrille or Grace Notes performing in the restaurant, but of course the food is the main attraction. My favourite is Amélies famous sharing plank, always a hit with our customers."
The sharing plank brings people together and supports one of Steve's favourite quotes to "Eat, drink and be happy...or is ir Eat, drink and be fat and drunk." Either way, Steve ensures the food and family atmosphere at Amélies is exceptional.

This Cornish beauty is Victoria 'Vix' Nance!
Nance, a medieval Cornish surname, comes from the Celtic word meaning valley dweller. Vix was born on the Isles of Scilly but lives in Porthleven these days. She loves her walking distance, no-traffic commute to work.
The Cornish have a reputation for being a bit rebellious and non-conformist. Being proper Cornish, Vix is Amélies most rebellious commis chef - quite often ‘forgetting’ to wear chef's whites - with consequences, as... can be seen in the photo below!
Vix aims to be the best at what she does at Amélies, but she also loves sewing and wild swimming - check with Vix for her favourite wild swimming locations. Vix says, "I’d rather regret something than not do it" and quotes Oscar Wilde who said, "I can resist everything except temptation."
At Amélies, Porthleven, there are many temptations. We say resist not, give in, and feel the foodie love...

Without a doubt one of the best restaurants in Cornwall! Amazing food in a stunning location. Friendly and professional staff. A relaxed and welcoming family atmosphere. Highly recommend. We'll be coming back again very soon!

We regularly dine at Amelies. The food is interesting, delicious and well presented.

We have never been disappointed. Shame the cheapest wine is £19.

We have just had the most amazing meal at Amelies. Goats cheese & ,onion marmalade bruschetta & sweet corn & chilli chowder. More than a starter and tasted superb. Then crab & chilli linguine with a side of sea salt crackling, both amazing, but the crackling had to be tasted to be believed. Just too much for us to eat! And the serving staff were exceptional too. Well done all

Turned up very late in the evening as a last minute choice for a Birthday meal and we were warmly welcomed. We were shown to a lovely table in a little conservatory off of the main restaurant - just perfect. Our waitress, Ella, was absolutely lovely (a real credit to the restaurant) and nothing was too much trouble. My partner ordered a steak burger with bacon, which he said was well-cooked, full of flavour and filling. I had the seafood linguine which was simply stunning... light, fresh, with a beautiful sauce and again, really filling. I would have this again in a heartbeat. Can't recommend this delightful restaurant enough... in one of our favourite places and even though I was wearing wellies after a horrendous day of rain, they were totally welcoming :D Thank you immensely for a perfect celebration evening xx

User

The best meal I’ve had this year! Didn’t expect this to be as good, awesome prawn starters, then catch if the day was amazing, my fussy 11 year old ate all of the surf &turf! Great, friendly service - we will definitely be back! And really dog friendly- even for our very large dog!

My partner and I had a fantastic meal here on Friday night. Every course was outstanding and the cocktails where equally as good. The service was brilliant no one rushed us but where there when needed and very friendly and knowledgeable about the food. When I got the bill I thought I had been undercharged 😂 I even sent my other half back for a take away pizza the following day after wishing I had order one.

User

My husband and I went there to celebrate our first year wedding anniversary. The staff were very nice and made us feel welcome. We both love seafood so we’re looking forward to having several different dishes. The food was beautiful, and we both highly recommend the oysters au natural, they did not taste like I had swallowed half the ocean! They were perfect!. The white wine also went down lovely and complimented all the flavours!

User

Had the Mr Fish pizza followed by the lemon torte. Sublime! How soon can I come back????

Food and service the best by far this whole holiday. Loved it. Thank you for squeezing us and our two dogs in!

User

Booked a table for two to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Our four legged friend was made to feel very welcome also. The room had a lovely ambience.

Our food was absolutely fabulous. Hubby started with the sardines. He was very pleased as was I with the ham hock terrain. We both chose off the special menu having the woodfired chicken with roast potatoes. I was going to order some seasonal greens but our lovely waitress told us that it came with vegetables. Oh my goodness. What a lovely selection of veg. The chicken was perfect with lashings of amazing gravy. Even though I was very full I chose a lemon and rhubarb cheesecake for dessert. It rounded of our meal to perfection.

I would like to say thank you for your delightful gift of two glasses of fizz. We really appreciated it. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

Will definitely pop in when next visiting Porthleven.

An amazing meal tonight, couldn't fault the food or service (Gracie did a brilliant job of being attentive and amusing our 5 year old), despite everyone obviously being rushed off their feet in a packed restaurant. Definitely book, people were being turned away as early as 6pm. Welcoming to all, young, old and canine. Highly recommend, can't wait to come back!

User

Absolutely stunning meal. Loved every bit of it. Will definitely be visiting again!!

A novice to seafood so a bit unsure of the menu etc but have to say we were looked after from the minute we arrived until we left. We hadn't even noticed our starter was a little delayed, as we were soaking up the welcoming and chilled out atmosphere, but they brought bread and oil to apologise for the 'wait'. All of the food was beautifully presented and absolutely gorgeous. The service was fabulous, the atmosphere Perfect, all in all a lovely evening. We only wish we came earlier in the week. On leaving we almost felt attached to this beautiful restaurant, it's staff and location.
