About Am Structures Ltd.

AMS was formed in 1990 as a family business set up to manufacture one off racing yachts around the 45-foot size. The aim was to produce light weight durable vessels which were also capable of long offshore passages where reliability and structural integrity are key. Racing yachts built by AMS had a string of successes in the late 1990's to early 2000's, most notable of which were Independent Bear and Crackling Rosie winning major regattas such as the IRC Nationals and Gold Roman Bowl for the Round the Island Race. These yachts are still racing competitively 25 years after their manufacture with no structural failures ever recorded. In 1999 AMS were approached to build a large architectural structure, which also formed a skylight for the shopping mall located beneath it, designed by Ron Arad for installation at Canary Wharf. The structure is still in place next to the famous building at 1 Canada Square in London. This project represented the start of the company's diversion into lightweight architectural structures manufactured from non-metallic composite materials. Since then AMS have completed a wide range of projects for a wide range of designers, clients and end users including Zaha Hadid, Birmingham Bullring, Abacus, Network Rail, Birse Rail, Laing O'Rourke, Blackpool Council, Cork and Denbighshire County Councils, Ramboll, Hochtief and Dawnus.
