About Amaze Compass Card

An initiative from Amaze, Brighton & Hove City Council and West Sussex County Council to help make leisure more welcoming and more affordable for 0-25s with additional needs.

Amaze Compass Card Description

Brighton-based charity Amaze runs Compass Card Brighton and Hove and Compass Card West Sussex on behalf of Brighton and Hove City Council and West Sussex County Council. The Compass Card in Brighton and Hove was launched in 2003 and is a national model of best practice. The card in West Sussex was launched in April 2016. The initiative helps make leisure more welcoming and more affordable for 0-25s with additional needs living or going to school in the area.

To be eligible for a Compass Card, children or young people will need to be 0-25 years old (membership expires on 25th birthday); and have a disability or special educational need that has a big effect on daily living (usually that means they’ll be eligible for DLA or PIP and /or have an EHC Plan or moving on plan). They’ll also need to be living or going to school in Brighton and Hove or West Sussex, or being ‘looked after’ by social services there.

Amaze also manages Brighton & Hove City Council and West Sussex County Council’s ‘disability registers’ for 0-25s. It’s joining the register (‘The Compass’) that entitles children and young people with significant additional needs to Compass Card West Sussex. All data is subject to strict Data Protection legislation.
