“East and North Yorkshire have some tremendous coves and beaches, but Runswick, near Whitby, gives a concentrated dose of all that is on offer: superb views from the cliffs, then a sharp walk down via a tangle of cottages to a mile of beach that is mixed sand and shingle, with good cafes. Look out for fossils and jet, the two treasures of these parts, but if venturing beyond the beach under the cliffs, check the tide times. The Cleveland Way coastal path passes along the beach.”

What a fabulous place to get away from it all! A lovely lodge on a quiet development, a short walk to the pub with a great menu and good beer.
Ammonite Lodge is beautifully furnished, well appointed with very comfortable beds and good showers. We can't wait to go back!
Fantastic location for this very well equipped, modern and comfortable lodge. We made ourselves right at home and were grateful for the food cupboard essentials and the very Yorkshire welcome hamper! The sandy bay is only a 10 minute walk from the lodge, and Whitby a 20 min drive. The Pines itself is a well maintained and quiet resort, ideal for family getaways. Absolutely loved our stay and will be rebooking! Thanks Ammonite Lodge. X
