Amorphous means without form or shape. Amorphous Movement is my initiative to create a platform, where creativity can be expressed through movement without the boundaries of fixed formats and to develop physicality and symbiosis through natural movement.

Amorphous Movement Description

I am Korina and I have created Amorphous Movement and Amorphous Kids. I have trained as a dance teacher in Ballet and Contemporary dance in Athens (Greece) and I am holding a Master of Arts Degree in Contemporary Dance from London Contemporary Dance School (the Place). Yoga has always been part of my dance training, but it was only after the birth of my second child that I discovered just how powerful Yoga is as a means of reconditioning and maintaining long term fitness, as well as helping mentally to cope with life's stresses. It was very soon after that I decided to train as a Yoga teacher with Bridget Woods-Kramer (triyoga) and I have gained a 200-hrs certificate in Hatha yoga for Adults. I have also qualified as a Yoga teacher for children, studying with Susannah Hoffman (triyoga).

Amorphous for me means freedom in how I can connect to my passion which has always been movement and dance and my recent love with Yoga without the boundaries of fixed formats. Amorphous is ever-expanding and ever-changing and can be moulded to facilitate my interests, my new ideas and all the different projects and activities that fascinate me through dance and yoga. Amorphous as a name and philosophy came to me in my need to be able to feel free within my dance practice and to create a balance and equal importance in all activities of Dance.

Moving and exercising in any way connects us to ourselves, brings us happiness and makes us feel better in ourselves; this connects to my philosophy to create a platform where my students have the freedom to find authenticity in movement and feel supported to do so. Feeling empowered to take control of their physicality and to find their identity through movement.

I am offering Dance and Yoga classes for all ages and all levels.

Children’s classes:
*Contemporary Dance Clubs @Stillness Infants & Juniors Schools (open to Stillness pupils only)
Age groups: Reception, Years 1& 2, Years 3-6
*Yoga Club @Honor Oak Wellness Rooms (drop-in, public classes)
Age groups: 4-6 years old, 7-9 years old, 10-12 years old

Adult public classes:
*Contemporary Dance @Central School of Ballet (open level)
*Vinyasa Yoga @Central School of Ballet (open level)

Available for 1 to 1 sessions or private groups. Please message me for further details.

Alongside Tom Laughton we have created the Amorphous Wellbeing Hub which consists of Amorphous Movement and Amorphous Therapies, offering a holistic service and comprehensive exercise and wellbeing packages. Yoga is such a great way to connect to our bodies and create time for ourselves! The combination of breath-led movement and relaxation is a fantastic tool to use to alleviate stress and bring ourselves in calmer states of mind. As a beginner it can be quite overwhelming to get started. A course is the best way to learn the fundamentals and also create a regular practice.

Few places left for Yoga for Strength workshop this Saturday! And I finally managed to get some time to prepare some things. Kids are back to school and the living room is my studio!
This or a variation will be something we'll play with! It looks hard and yes it is!! πŸ˜‚This flow strengthens the core and legs and coordinates the whole body. What I love about it is that it doesn't only require strength, but also use of the momentum of the roll as well as the breath to make it a... little bit easier! There are ways of course to simplify and a little cheat to get us up there! πŸ˜‰
Another aspect that I am fascinated with is how by changing the way we practice, we give our brains a workout too! These are all poses that we do in any vinyasa class but putting them in a different way gives us that extra challenge that also creates new pathways in our brains!

... In this workshop we will explore how Yoga can be used as a strengthening practice, for both body and mind. Counteracting habitual movement patterns in our everyday lives by creating challenges that enable us to improve our kinaesthesia and develop a more holistic approach to movement. Through familiar vinyasa practices, we will create a full body workout with a focus on functional strength.

I have had the luxury of having some time without the kids!! Used that time to rest, meditate and do very little, but also to re-connect to my love of movement, my personal dance practice. I attended professional classes that I hadn't done for years and I feel alive and inspired!
