About Amura Loughoborough University

Team Amura aims to revolutionise the process of lunar exploration by designing a reusable vehicle capable of providing access to the lunar surface from the Lunar Orbital Platform Gateway (LOP-G) for both crew and cargo. This will not only open a new chapter for in-situ resource utilisation, but also collect vital data from technologies that will be used for future manned missions to Mars. The lander will conform to the AIAA 2018-2019 Undergraduate Team Space Systems Design Competition. A two-stage concept has been selected which will consist of four modules; a Crew Module able to transport crew and limited cargo from Low Lunar Orbit to the lunar surface and back, a Cargo module able to transport 15 tonnes of payload from the Low Lunar Orbit to the lunar surface and back, a Halo module able to transport the Crew and Cargo modules from the Near Rectilinear Halo Orbit to Low Lunar Orbit and an adaptor module which will allow the crew and cargo modules to dock to the Lunar Orbital Platform Gateway. Team Amura will continue to undergo a design process for the Lunar Surface Access Vehicle due to be completed at the beginning of May. Please follow the journey with us from initial concepts through to detailed design. Do not hesitate to get in contact with questions, suggestions and more information!
