The best way to learn ancient history is not by memorizing dates and facts but, rather, through critical thinking and analysis. One of the central values of ancient Egyptian civilization, arguably the central value, was ma'at - the concept of harmony and balance in all aspects of one's life. This ideal was the most important duty observed by the pharaoh who, as mediator between the gods and the people, was supposed to be a role model for how one lived a balanced life. Egyptian art, architecture, religious practices, even governmental agencies all exhibit a perfect symmetry of balance and this can also be seen in gender roles throughout the history of ancient Egyptian civilization.

A sprawling, prosperous Neolithic village dated to 9,000 years ago has been discovered in Motza, at the foot of the Jerusalem hills. The site, featuring dozens of stone houses, grander buildings that may have been temples, and skeletal remains was discovered serendipitously during works ahead of building a new road.

Early "haute cuisine" is thousands of years older than previously thought. Archaeologists have discovered what appears to be the birth of sophisticated cooking – at a Stone Age site in the Middle East, dating back some 14,400 years.
Hades was both the name of the ancient Greek god of the underworld (Roman name: Pluto) and the name of the shadowy place below the earth which was considered the final destination for the souls of the dead. Perhaps the most feared of the gods, he is described by both Homer and Hesiod as ‘pitiless’, ‘loathsome’, and ‘monstrous’ Hades. The god's wife was Persephone whom he abducted to join him in the underworld, and his symbol is a sceptre or cornucopia.

The capture of Jerusalem from Muslim control was the primary goal of the First Crusade (1095-1102 CE), a combined military campaign organised by western rulers, the Pope, and the Byzantine Empire . After a brief siege, the city was captured on 15 July 1099 CE and the population massacred. A Musli... #history #alexios_i_komnenos #first_crusade #jerusalem ↪http://www.ancient.eu/article/1254/
In ancient Greek medicine illness was initally regarded as a divine punishment and healing as, quite literally, a gift from the gods. However, by the 5th century BCE, there were attempts to identify the material causes for illnesses rather than spiritual ones and this led to a move away from superstition towards scientific enquiry, although, in reality, the two would never be wholly separated. Greek medical practitioners, then, began to take a greater interest in the body itself and to explore the connection between cause and effect, the relation of symptoms to the illness itself and the success or failure of various treatments.

Hindu architecture evolved over the centuries from simple rock-cut cave shrines to massive and ornate temples which spread across the Indian sub-continent and beyond, forming a canonical style which is still adhered to today in modern Hindu temples across the globe. Essential elements of the style are precise and harmonious geometry when viewed from all four sides and above, the square form and grid ground plans, soaring towers, and elaborate decorate sculpture which includes gods, worshippers, erotic scenes, animals, and floral and geometric patterns.

The remains of the great pyramid of Teopanzolco have long offered visitors to the southern Mexican site unique insights into the structure’s inner workings while simultaneously conjuring visions of the intricate temples that once arose from its series of bases and platforms. Today, remnants of twin temples—to the north, a blue one dedicated to the Aztec rain god Tláloc, and to the south, a red one dedicated to the Aztec sun god Huitzilopochtli—still top the pyramid’s central platform, joined by parallel staircases.
Forts and sieges held a key position in ancient Indian warfare . I feel very bad for Armenians and Pontos Greeks who werw killed by that miserable iewish-Turq Yose Kohen Kemal Ataturq, who was one of passive homosexual men in the Turkey. On 1922 September 9.He ordered to burn Armenian and Pontus Greeks homes. On that disaster were killed 30,000.00 Armenians and tens of thousands of Pontos Greeks. At this moment when I'm watching TV from Turkey' because i'am a professional musician' I know the Pontos Mixed rithms' they are Pontik musiq Translated into Turkish. They stole our Duduk,Qyamancha.and other national instruments and declaring Turkish.Their instrument is only CHUNGUR that's all.
Ancient history gives us an idea of why we are, who we are today.
From where we began, to where we have been since, mapping our progress all the way to today.
A lot like following a tribe culture from where we first found them, into the directions they have taken since, can give us a fairly good picture all the way back to where they must have begun.
