🇬🇧🇫🇷🇩🇪 Thanks again to Denton Town Twinning Association for asking me to be their Honorary President...
My first ‘official duty’ was to be the guest speaker at their ‘Tapas and Talk’ fundraiser tonight. Amazing Spanish 🇪🇸 food and then lots of fun questions on everything from growing up in Denton through to life as an MP.
Hopefully the event helped to raise some much-needed funding to assist the Association’s work in building friendship links between residents, community groups, sports clubs and young people in Denton and our two twin towns.

Honoured to be asked and delighted to accept. The Town Twinning Association do fantastic work bringing the communities of Denton 🇬🇧, Montigny-le-Bretonneux 🇫🇷 and Kierspe 🇩🇪 together.
And thank you to former Denton Councillor, Margaret Downs, for her two decades in the post: she will be a hard act to follow.
However our future relationship with Europe may end up in the weeks ahead, it’s still crucially important we stay friends and continue to develop understanding and strong ties across the nations of our continent.

📰 READ: The Government have withdrawn a key fire safety document produced following the Grenfell tragedy.
After a decade of failing to take this fire safety seriously, this latest mistake can only further undermine trust. Thanks to Daily Mirror for picking up on the story and my quote.

💐🥕🥔 Another lovely evening at a flower and vegetable show - this time with the Denton West Councillors at the Denton & District Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society’s Show.
Thanks for the lovely welcome (as always), the delicious cake and the bug hotel made by Jessica.
Another #ProudMP moment as well, because Denton is the reigning National Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Champion - and it’s their twelfth win at the Championships too.

‪A great afternoon with the Mayor of Tameside Leigh Drennan and the Friends of Dukinfield Old Hall Chapel (an Organisation which I’m proud to be their Patron) for Heritage Open Day.
‪The 500 year-old Chapel is now a Grade II* listed ruin located in a builder’s yard just off Globe Square... but it has a fascinating history - with links to the English Civil War (the Hall was the home of Colonel Robert Duckenfield).
The Chapel was also an early home for Unitarianism and other religious ‘dissension’. But today we learnt about the important links to the Peterloo Massacre. Totally fascinating.

And that’s Will safely returned and unpacking in his student digs... it’s been nice having him back over the summer. Good luck at The University of Manchester for another year, son! 👨🏻‍🎓

💐🥕🥔 It’s that time of year again... A big thank you to Steve and Fi Mayer for inviting me to present the prizes at the Harrogate Road Allotments Society’s 41st Annual Flower and Vegetable Show in Reddish.
It’s always great to see the brilliant produce and flowers grown put on display... well done to all the exhibitors, volunteers and the public who came along to show their support! 👏🏻
Enjoy the many photographs taken!

📸 PHOTOS: A busy constituency day - here’s a snapshot of some of what I’ve been up to...
I joined up with my Tameside MP colleagues Jonathan Reynolds MP and Angela Rayner MP to urge the Mayor of Greater Manchester to re-regulate our buses so they’re run again in the interests of the travelling public. I’m proud to support Better Buses Greater Manchester 🚌
The Tameside Trio have also been helping to promote Be Well Tameside - a public health campaign encouraging health lifesty...les in the Borough... there’ll be videos out soon- featuring us - promoting their FREE services.
I also had a good meeting with Tameside Council Officers and Denton Councillors Brenda Warrington and Allison Gwynne about the #BeeNetwork proposals for Crown Point and the A57 corridor through Denton. It’s a £2.5m investment in waking 🚶‍♀️cycling 🚲 and public realm 🌳 improvements to our neighbourhood.
I also had a good meeting with my friend Marc Levy from the Jewish Leadership Council to discuss issues affecting the British Jewish community... and advice surgeries at Haughton Green, Reddish Library, Denton West End Community Library and Dukinfield Town Hall... speaking of which...
I only turned up to Denton West End Community Library to do my Advice Surgery... little did I know they were setting up for a fundraising fashion show tonight. I couldn’t get out without dressing-up for them. Cheers for that Karen McLauchlan! 🤣😂🤣

📰 READ: In this week's Tameside Reporter, I wrote about Russell Scott Primary School‘s Junior PCSOs, who are making their small screen debuts tonight on Channel 5 at 8pm. They want to make the school run safer, healthier and more pleasant - and I'm with them on that!

Please support if you can...

📰 READ: Last year, Denton and Reddish constituents raised almost £2000 for Breast Cancer Now by wearing it pink. Let's make even more on Wear It Pink day this year on 18 October. It's a fun way of funding really vital research and support.

📰 READ: There's a bit of a chill in the air and it seems Summer may now be over. I wrote in this month's Denton Correspondent about fuel poverty - far too many people will be plunged into financial difficulties and/or illness this winter.

🎅🏻 📸 - I know Christmas seems an age away, but I’m looking for a photograph for my 2019 Parliamentary Christmas Card...
If you think you’ve a photo of a local landmark (in Audenshaw, Denton, Dukinfield or Reddish) that would make a good Christmas Card then please send to GwynneA@parliament.uk
In the past I’ve used (see below):
... • St Elisabeth’s Church, Reddish • St Lawrence’s Church, Denton • Old Chapel, Dukinfield • The sixteen arches, Reddish Vale • Rose Bank, Haughton Dale
Do you have something that would be equally as good for this Christmas? 🎄

Another #ProudPresident moment - yesterday, I was announced as the Honorary President of the Denton Park Social and Bowling Club.
A big thank you to all the Club members for welcoming me into the role: it was also my pleasure to award the trophies to the winners of the Denton Carnival Open Tournament competition - held to raise money for our brilliant Willow Wood Hospice. Well done to all involved! 👏🏻

🎶 Ok you’ll have to use your imagination folks because George Newton had ONE job and that was to video with the sound on...
Denton Brass played The Timewarp - so the Mayor and I danced to it! Love the way people are just walking past as though this is an everyday occurrence in Denton! 🤣🤣🤣
