Today I’m just like Spike. Lying down and chilling. Only with a rotten cold...

So many times I hear yoga teachers say that they are struggling and have to change something... and then proceed doing exactly the same thing.
> If you want different results you have to do different things. > If you don’t know how to run a thriving business you have to learn. > If you are confused and overwhelmed - you need a mentor.
... That’s what I did. And on Monday I registered and accredited my school of yoga and my first yoga teacher training on trauma.
I did it because I put energy into learning about business, did things differently and worked with mentors.

Trauma is in your body.
How could it be any other way?? This is the real meaning of mind-body connection.
... That’s why your body offers you a gateway to change and healing. When you practice yoga in a mindful way with focus on embodiment and breath and cultivating safe presence - you will start opening to your felt-senses (meaningful body sensations) and integrate those part of you that have become split off.
Because trauma impacts your whole being and disassociation is a real thing.
Keep yourself safe. Cultivate curiosity, openness and kindness. And show up for yourself - however much you can.

Yoga helps you face your sensations, come back to your body and build resilience.
I know that so well. I’ve seen it happen with my clients so many times.
You might know that my background is in Social Care with 16 years of direct work with trauma.
... I’ve learned through daily experience of supporting individuals and families with trauma - mental health, suicide, addictions, DV and all forms of abuse and neglect - as well as supervising and training workers.
You cannot learn just from books - that’s just knowledge. It’s very important but it’s just a first step. This knowledge then has to be embodied - and become embodied wisdom. It takes time and practice.
How do you start working with trauma? By showing on your mat, practicing mindful embodied yoga and creating a sense of inner safety.
And if you need support - by working with a yoga teacher who understands and has experience of working in this way.
Most of all be kind and compassionate to yourself whatever you’re going through
