A Georgian drop leaf table from Dedham; the heart of Constable Country.
This table has provenance of being owned by Mary Anne Howlett from the Compass Inn, High Street Dedham.
The Compass Inn has long since closed.
... John Constable, the artist who painted the nearby Dedham Lock and Mill around the same time as this table was made nearly 200 years ago, would have almost definitely visited The Compass Inn.
