Tomorrow's forecast is not looking great, as always a decision will be made on the morning by the duty ranger at each water. Please consider this before setting out on a long journey. To be on the safe side we have unfortunately cancelled this week's breakfast club fishing at Rutland.

Rutland boat league (week 5) What looked like a nice evenings fishing in the image shown, it wasn't to be. Virtually a tough evening for all the 18 anglers who went out, despite the lack of action a lot of fish were reported moving on top, with a good majority last night seemingly turning there attention to this years pin-fry!
Weather conditions had changed overnight from Monday, with the wind direction moving 180 degrees to a south easterly along with some really heavy sh...owers, this saw quite a few of the day boat anglers packing up early with little reward.
By the time the League went out the wind had gone Southerly, then later on to south west, only two anglers caught, Keith Jones went down to the transformer in the North arm had had two nice conditioned fish, the best at 3lb 6 5/8th's rainbow and (Boat winner) the brace going 5lb 7 3/4oz both taken on dry fly, Richard Cooper managed the other solitary fish, also on a dry!!
Away from the boat league, settled weather should see settled fishing again, Anglers have been telling me about food items found in fish stomachs recently, revealing a good mixed bag with buzzers, still in various sizes, but take note, shrimp, snails and very large sedge pupae, remember the amber nymph? have been found in good quantities in fish, also very large beetles are also showing up along with the already mentioned pin-fry. Tactics will vary with some fish feeding down somewhat, but look out for plenty of surface activity along the way.

Rutland boat league (week 4) Another excellent turn out with 19 anglers going out, the weather however in the shape of a heavy shower caught some people out, Sean Hillaby managed to convert the drogue into a makeshift cape!! It was a Welsh one two on the night, top rod was Chris Evans, & the biggest fish went to Keith Jones.(Boat winner) 55 were fish caught, and many lost, in less than 3 hours fishing. See result sheet... Mr consistent, Vince Sparrow, maintains the top spot with a third place on the night, making it a total 28 points overall, Rich Cooper is lurking below with 24 points respectively. After the supper, there was a thumbs up in the shape of a dessert! a very well made Tiramisu, albeit left for the rangers, but the leftovers were very tastefully well received, thanks goes to rangers Mark Mc Cloud's wife Jackie on that one. 👍
