We joined our friends at environmental charity City to Sea recently to take a toilet on a tour of our region. We wanted to talk to people about what we should and shouldn't flush down the loo to protect our environment. Do you know the three P's rule?

It's been a busy year for RiverCare volunteers around our region. Here are the litter heroes from the Lincoln group recently, carrying out their last clean up of 2018 along Sincil Bank in the city. As well as fast food packaging and household waste the team also sadly discovered the body of a swan. Thank you to all the Lincoln volunteers for their sterling work this year - and to all the RiverCare and BeachCare volunteers across the region protecting our waterways and beaches from litter and pollution. You make us very proud to support this fantastic initiative! Pictures taken by Nick Rawsthorne.

Our leakage technicians are out and about across our region every day, wherever and whenever they're needed. Early starts can have their advantages though - leakage tech Steve Cowley was up at dawn investigating a burst when he captured this beautiful fenland sunrise. We already lead the industry on leakage, but we're determined to go even further and reach world-beating low leakage rates. In the coming months we'll have 200 extra leakage technicians coming on board to help us achieve our aim of reducing leaks by a further 22% before 2025.

It's World Toilet Day and we've been out and about our region in Brentwood, Chelmsford and Cambridge with the charity City2Sea on a toilet tour! World Toilet Day is a day to remember that millions of people around the world do not have access to decent toilets and sewer systems. We're extremely lucky in the UK that we do, so we we need to ensure we look after them. That means only flushing the three P's - poo, pee and paper!

Archaeologists have unearthed the remains of a Roman settlement next to Grafham Water reservoir in Cambridgeshire. Archaeological exploration is currently taking place on operational land at various locations around Grafham in preparation for a new solar array being built there. The preliminary work has revealed Roman pottery, animal bones and evidence of an ancient community. Archaeology surveys are vital whenever we are building new works or laying pipes in our region to ensure ancient artefacts are recorded and protected. The solar energy generated from the new array will significantly reduce the nearby water treatment works’ carbon footprint and help us deliver our services more sustainably.

Today the media has been covering the issue of wet wipes in our sewers. So we've come to Cambridge Water Recycling Centre to get a first hand look at some of the things that are getting flushed down our region's toilets. Please don't watch this if you're eating!
