LATE SHARKING We headed out on Tuesday to try for a porbeagle but one of the lines got intercepted by a tuna which took up most of the day trying to land it, without success. So today we went out to target the porbeagles again and succeeded this time with a fish of around 50lb. There are still a few around which is great this late in the year.

BEGINNERS LUCK! After a long haul out to the wrecks yesterday and finding it hard going to find the fish, which we did in the end, and with 3 family groups on today I thought I would stay inshore to make it easier for the young ones. But the fish didn't read the script as we had 3 ling over 25lb, which is not bad for complete beginners, and with plenty of smaller ones to go in the dinner box as well. It must have been the lucky mascot that was brought onboard! The weather was cracking and the fishing was great, everyone has gone home quite weary.

HAPPY DANGLERS Are a bunch of lads from around Devon & Somerset who meet every now and then for different boat trips. today was a lure trip, some had fished with lures before and the rest had little experience of lure fishing. Conditions today weren't the best for lure fishing after the couple of days of storms we've had, with milky water, but we managed a few fish with plenty of pollack, a couple of small bass, a couple of nice fish lost and grandad landed a new species for Anglo, a Bonito. Great to be back on the water after being storm bound for too long. Watch out tomorrow we will be putting up spaces for the coming week.

User

RING THE DINNER BELL Nice small neap tides today which allowed the group of individuals to fish the wrecks for some nice quality ling, with one of the lads on his first ever boat trip landing a nice 25lb ling, he was somewhat happy! Then we anchored on a reef where we did a bit of snake charming, nothing too big but plenty of sport. Good day had by all.

NEAR THE END OF THE SHARKS 4 individuals booked Anglo today for one of the last goes at the sharks this season as they seem to be slowing down now, so we will concentrate on other fishing. We did manage 3 fish today and a dropped run, 2 around 45lb mark and a smaller one. At one point there were hundreds of dead boar fish floating along, my guess is discarded from a trawler. Can't be good to eat as even the seagulls left them alone! A cracking day with cracking weather and great company.

Evening squid and cuttle trips will be starting soon get in touch if you are interested.

ESSEX BOYS PART 2 After yesterday's great sharking trip the weather was quite the opposite. Very strong southerly winds which restricted us to where we could fish with the tides and weather. We put the anchor down on a usual inshore reef but even there we were being thrown around so we had to move to another mark. As soon as the boys put whole mackerel baits down the whiting were stripping them in seconds, so there was only thing to do when that happens, take the backbone ...out the whiting and put that down. It didn't take long before the snakes started feeding on them. A couple of the lads were conger virgins, which is no longer the case! Once the tide had slackened on this mark it started to get lumpy so we drifted for a couple of hours where we had some jumbo mackerel, gurnard and a couple of octopus to finish the day off. Will see you next year lads.

ESSEX BOYS PART ONE 5 lads from Essex have come down for a couple of days species fishing. However seeing as the forecast was geat and we've had some good sharking this week, so I suggested we had a go for a shark or 2 if we could catch enough mackerel. The mackerel were very obliging and we soon had a fish box full, not big but plenty of them. An hours steam to our mark and as soon as the first rod went over it only took 30 seconds for the first shark to take hold For all but a period around slack water, we were busy with sharks. Poor Paul, the organiser, suffering with sciatica had to sit and watch his mates have all the fun! We ended the day with 23 sharks, the biggest going to about 80lb, but the average was between 30lb to 40lb. Enjoy your beers tonight boys see you tomorrow.

User

Mark Howard, are you out there? I have a couple of dates with your name in October but cannot find a number for you, please get in touch. Email info@anglodawn.co.uk or call me 07779 728966 - thanks, Andy

THE DAY AFTER! Last weekend we had great shark fishing which was just before the inaugral Falmouth Shark Angling Festival where we thought the fishing was going to be hot, but it turned out to be quite the opposite, with only 17 sharks caught over the 3 days between the 2 boats. Then today I had the same crew on today who were on yesterday, the last day of the festival, and it all kicked off. We thought we were in for a slow day until we had our first fish at 1 o'clock, and... the last one at 4 o'clock, landing 20 sharks inbetween. The biggest went to Davy, who had travelled down with his mate Don from north of the border (and I don't mean Devon), the other border above Hadrians Wall. Having the best fish of 98lb, and local lad Josh Portus landing a couple of fish between 80 - 90lb. I think the boys are a little bit tired tonight. Why couldn't we have had this for the competition? That's fishing for you!

We now have the 2019 tide table. If you need to get the best tides for the fishing you want get in touch, several good tides have already gone.

GLASTONBURY DRUIDS A bunch of lads travelled down this morning from Glastonbury for a bit of shark fishing. They must have brought a bit of luck with them as we boated 21 sharks today with a couple of nice ones, the biggest going to 86lb. A lot of small puppies still around but the boys enjoyed themselves. Safe journey back lads to Druid land! I know it's late but still have 1 space on Monday and Tuesday for the shark competition.

User

LAST CALL FOR THE SHARK COMP We now have 1 space each day, Mon & Tues for the shark comp. Give me a shout 07779 728966.

User

NO SHARKS TODAY That's because the boys had had their fill of sharks over the weekend and wanted to catch a few species they don't catch in their native Kent! First on the list was a ling which they all succeeded with in the first 2 drifts, and with the Italian Stallion catching a bonus 24lb cod. Then it was onto conger where we couldn't find the big one but managed several straps, and to finish the day they wanted a bull huss, so we anchored a bit of rough ground with lots of kelp and found a nice dark coloured bull huss for them. They will be happy boys on the long journey back to Kent this evening.

User

SHARKS, DOLPHINS AND TUNA The last couple of days have been targeting the sharks, we've had a few, but mainly smallish fish, even had a porbeagle today which was unhooked at the side of the boat. Haven't seen so many dolphins in a long time, they just coming all day long and then all of a sudden a shoal of blue fin tuna erupted only 40m from the boat, in an area the size of a football pitch. There must have been around 150 fish, an awesome sight to see. Little break from sharking for the next couple of days, back on the species.

User

Went shark fishing with this company for my birthday in august, had a great day, done a 12 hour trip had 32 sharks on the boat 8 of them I brought in my biggest was 88lb, we had a great day and the skipper was so friendly and that made the day even more enjoyable, and on the way home we even stopped to watch the dolphins swim under the boat for 10 minutes great day out, recommend to anyone thinking of using this company,

User

We had a fantastic sea fishing trip on Tuesday evening. Caught loads of fish and have thoroughly enjoyed cooking it! Thanks Andy for being a brilliant skipper and fishing coach! Can't wait to do it all again!

User

We fished three full days with Andy on Anglo Dawn and could not fault either

the skipper or the boat. The Dawn is spotless, comfortable and very well equipped. The tackle available is way better than the usual charter boat beaten up rubbish. Andy has a tremendous work ethic and a vast experience to draw on. He is happy to share his knowledge and is great company, but above all he wants to keep his customers happy. My thanks to Rob and Andy- I'm glad I gave you a call.

User

The Anglo Dawn is a very good boat which is bolstered by its skipper whom I found to be very helpful, keen to try his best in getting his customers to catch fish and extremely engaging with everyone’s on board. Would highly recommend him and look forward to a second trip with him. Thank you Andy.

User

Surprisingly the art students of life out fished the experts due to the enlightening teaching of Andy...”just hold the rod and breathe.” Amazing day thanks very much!

User

Rob and Andy are great chaps with a wealth of experience and local knowledge. The great thing is they can unhook the fish and do the gutting if you are a little squeamish about how fishing but want the experience. Highly recommended

One of the best day's fishing I've ever had. Andy was a superb skipper: funny, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful. We all caught sharks and saw dolphins and I can't wait to come back. Highly recommended.

Had a good day with Andy, very friendly and professional, sea was a bit rough so a bit of comical vomiting but we got to swim with the Blue Sharks which was an unforgettable experience

User

Had a days fishing for various species aboard Anglo Dawn in July 2018. Though tough conditions Andy put us on several of our target species, and we had a great day out.

The boat is nice and well equipped, and besides the fishing. Andy made it for a nice day as well.

Had a cracking day yesterday with a group of friends!! Couldn't recommend this enough for any group whilst down in Cornwall this summer looking for some excitement!! Well looked after by the skipper and a fun day had by all!! Thank you!!!

User

Had a blast on Anglo Dawn, caught some big fish and a great skipper.

User

Great trip all round! New species, specimens and a projectile vomit for good measure.....damn sushi Anyway, from the moment we arrived, Andy was attentive and helpful. His knowledge of the local area and Species available was top knotch. He not only guided us to new species, which is not an easy task, but he also put us on a few specimens in the process, topped by a cracking 12lb+ small eyed ray. I will certainly be back to have another bash for those that eluded us this time round....I'm coming for you Dory!

Been off with Anglo Dawn twice now. Fantastic boat, lots of tech and well laid out with tons of deck space. Stable and comfortable on the steam and the drift. Fantastic lads - Rob and Andy; with tons of experience and an incredible knowledge of the area. Always ready and willing to share knowledge and advice. I will be back with them and recommend them to anyone who wants to catch fish. We fished a half day with lures only on a less than favorable forecast and between four of us managed 10 species.
