Lidl is the only major UK supermarket to not have committed to clearly and consistently labelling their own-brand vegan products.
Please join us in asking them to #MarkItVegan by signing our petition. Help us reach 15,000 signatures!

Please watch and share Animal Aid’s new, short film, showing the suffering endured by birds in Larsen traps. We set a long-running camera filming two Larsen traps at a game farm in June, covering a period of 47 hours and 12 minutes.
Our film uses a speeded-up timer to demonstrate the amount of time the crows are left in the Larsen trap. It is not known how long they had already been in the trap, nor how much longer they were confined. What is clear, however, is that the birds were stressed, and desperate to be released.

If you haven't already done so, please consider voting for our much-loved Christmas Fayre in the #VegfestUKAwards2018. We're delighted to have been nominated in the Best Vegan Festival category.
You can find out more about the event at: https://www.facebook.com/events/620338855 001443/
Thank you in advance! 🙂

#peopleswalkforwildlife Such a good turn out despite the rain!

Our undercover filming has exposed one of the shooting industry's most chilling secrets. We have been able to show the shocking reality of Larsen traps - cruel devices that imprison one bird and use them to lure others of the same species, so that they can be killed. Please read, watch and share!

HUGE NEWS! Pheasant shooting will end on Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru / Natural Resources Wales land, following a campaign by Animal Aid, League Against Cruel Sports and Welsh activists.
Thank you all so much for helping us achieve this massive victory for animals!

In less than a week, more than 3,000 people have signed our petition to Parkinson’s UK – have you?
The charity has granted more than £780,000 to a project which includes experiments involving a ‘marmoset model of Parkinson’s’. Typically, to ‘model’ Parkinson’s, monkeys are injected with a compound that causes horrific symptoms including paralysis, tremors, rigidity, loss of vocalisation and a lack of coordination.

Breaking news: 15th slaughterhouse investigation reveals shocking suffering
Some people may think that small-scale slaughterhouses are more ‘humane’ for the animals. We have just carried out our 15th slaughterhouse investigation and yet again found shocking treatment of vulnerable animals. This included an animal being beaten, and another having her head shut in a metal gate. Take a look for yourselves and you decide, does this look like a compassionate way to treat animals?
Please order a vegan pack today and become part of the solution http://www.animalaid.org.uk/veganpack

Terrific news from the Liberal Democrats conference!
A motion calling on the government to 'Establish an independent regulatory body for horse welfare, which is separate from the British Horseracing Authority, to prevent abuse of racehorses and reduce avoidable deaths' has been passed.

Almost 100 MPs have signed an Early Day Motion calling for an end to the cruel cages used to confine breeding game birds.
You can check if your MP is one of them here: https://www.parliament.uk/edm/2017-19/967
If your MP has not signed, please send him or her a message using the link below. Thank you.

Have you ordered your materials for National Anti-Shooting Week (24-30 September 2018)?
We are calling for an end to the cruel, barren cages used to imprison thousands of pheasants and partridges used for breeding.
Can you run a street stall or leafleting event during the week of action? Or perhaps you can order some of our postcards and ask friends and family to send them to their MP?

Parkinson’s UK has granted more than £780,000 for the development of a drug that will include experiments on marmoset monkeys. The charity explains that the work will include ‘safety and efficacy testing in a marmoset model of Parkinson’s’. Typically, to ‘model’ Parkinson’s in monkeys, they are injected with a compound that causes horrific symptoms including paralysis, tremors, rigidity, loss of vocalisation and a lack of coordination. Good news! We’re delighted that P&O Ferries have now stopped transporting live animals from Scotland to Northern Ireland. This is following the BBC 1 Scotland ‘Disclosure’ expose titled, ‘The Dark side of Dairy’, which showed the truth behind the live export of young two week old calves from Scotland to Southern Europe.
The statement from P&O Ferries said:
“We can confirm that P&O Ferries will cease co-operating with the Scottish Government to transport across the Irish Sea young calves destined for continental Europe with immediate effect. We place the highest priority on animal welfare across all of our routes and were shocked by the scenes in last night’s documentary. We will not hesitate to act decisively and close the account of any customer which breaches our policies in this area.”

This week is ‘Remember a Charity’ week, when people are asked to consider leaving a gift to charity in their will. If you are thinking about this, please ensure this kind gesture means you ‘Don’t Leave a Legacy of Suffering’, by donating to charities who fund or conduct animal experiments.

User

Just want to thank you all for all your hard work you do to save the lives of all those poor innocent animals Thanks for having a good heart full of love for all the animals that suffer on the hands of humans with an empty soul.

User

I fully support Animal Aid and all the hard work they've done. I am very proud of this charity and aim to get more involved. I like all the comments. Abbatoirs must have CCTV and an animal welfare group monitoring it. I think meat should have pictures of the killing like cigarettes have images. I don't understand how people love cat and dogs but eat cows. We are here to be the guardians of animals.

Excellent work you people do standing up for the voiceless animals that are being abused by the sick evil monsters that inflict such awful barbaric cruelty on them the abusers will never shut our mouths up we will speak out and expose them and campaign to our last breath

User

Excellent organisation who care deeply about animals and the planet. Their guide to going Vegan us filled with advice and tips is great if new to veganism like me .

User

Animal aid is to be supported one hundred percent. I'd also like to say When we vegans talk about dogs and cats, indeed all animals, can we all please consciously make the effort to say He or she and not ,it, Using the word 'it' denies sentience, and confirms the carnist paradigm that denies animal personhood.

User

Animal Aid has done so much good for dogs and cats...it's hard to rescue ...and they do all they can do with what they have. They have helped me for almost 15 yrs with TNR, sick cats and kittens. I have nothing but good things to say about them.

User

Animal Aid are tremendous. been a vegetarian since 14 yrs and now vegan at 72 and feel far more healthy. had bloods done recently for an eye thing and they were all perfect. i worry about all the crap being sold as food and the seeming lack of ability to cook . of course we have endless tedious propgrams about cooking but they are all about competition and regularly about meals with animals included.

User

A massive thank you for all of your dedication and relentless hard work that helps so many animals in need. Animal Aid is certainly at the forefront of helping animals with campaigns that make a difference. I am very proud to be a member and feel much more informed of what's actually happening to animals in different situations.

Whilst some truths. Despicable untruths about horse racing. How many horses have died in the last 5 Grand Nationals? None that is the answer but reading the posts it looks like a death watch. Be perspective in the number of horses that race ie 1000’s against those who lose their lives less than 1% whilst living in luxury yet nothing is done to highlight starving or abandoned horses left by the roadside or out in fields with no one to care. Untrained owners buying ponies without a clue how to look after them and they suffer in silence. Before you slag horse racing have a look at the real problems in the equine world then I may add my respect
