About Ape Action Africa

Ape Action Africa is committed to ape conservation in Africa - protecting Cameroon's great apes through direct action. Our front line conservation work includes rescuing gorillas, chimpanzees and monkeys orphaned by the illegal bushmeat and pet trades, giving them a safe forest sanctuary home where they can live with their own kind. People are important to us too and we work directly with local villagers, developing community projects to generate income for them. We have a thriving education programme and our teamwork with thousands of children and adults every year, most of whom have never seen the majestic gorillas and chimpanzees until they visit our forest sanctuary at Mefou Primate Park.
