I recently discovered the artist Ben Quilty's work whilst in Australia and I really admired his use of thickly applied paint and his highly expressive subject matters so just had to share it...
Happy Christmas to all that have supported ‘apo art’ throughout this year and here’s to an amazing creative leap into 2020...🎉🥳😎👩🏻🎨 (aboriginal painted leaves)
Apo Studio will be Open all day today for any last minute gifts or ‘gift vouchers’ for loved ones.... Come and get out of the cold damp weather and join me for a warm drink and festive mince pie 🥧☕️🎄♥️
You may have noticed that I have not been at my studio much these past few months which I must say, has been frustrating and sad but for very good reason.
Two grandchildren arrived within 11 weeks of each other, both unusually complicated deliveries but I’m happy to report all is good...well actually ‘amazing’ and ‘wonderful’ ♥️♥️
Art will always be there for me, it is in me and although time management has been a struggle, these miracles of life have enriched my life further.... A serenity will seep into my work, my soul, and I just know some fantastic new work will emerge and I am learning to not feel guilty if I can’t paint!
I’m happy to say that this Novembers Workshop on 28th will happen and will be the last for 2019. There are some places left so please sign up and let’s be creative together. It’s the best feeling in the world...

Life as Art... “The fact of your life being your subject matter doesn’t in any way change the nature of art or artistic enterprise. It seems absolutely obvious, as well as convenient, to use as a subject what you are thinking and looking at all the time-the way your life goes”. Lucian Freud
Traces through a Landscape... 30x30cm Acrylic on board
