Appetite Stoke Description

Appetite is a three year artistic programme that aims to get more people in Stoke-on-Trent to experience and be inspired by the arts. Appetite is funded by Arts Council England and is part of the Creative People and Places programme. The programme aims to build an appetite for the arts in the city by putting on quality, accessible events in public spaces and placing people at the heart of what we do so they can take part and shape arts activity in Stoke-on-Trent. Appetite will engage local residents so they can get involved and influence more art in more places across the city.

Appetite’s focus is to better understand what the people of Stoke-on-Trent really want from the arts and how best to serve it to them. An ambition of Appetite is to deliver some of the best quality and most exciting arts activities that the local, national and international arts industry can offer.

The Appetite programme is supported using public funding by Arts Council England and led by the New Vic Theatre in partnership with B Arts, Brighter Futures, Partners in Creative Learning and Staffordshire University. Appetite is also supported by Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

What a fantastic show last night really enjoyed as did the family. Was worth getting wet for. Still rain stopped just in time x

User

We have had an awesome day in Hanley today. The kids and me have been entertained by dancers, poets and musicians. We are all inspired and looking forward to seeing much more in he coming days. #appetitestoke rocks! Xx

User

We have had a fabulous day very talented people lots of fun had by us all!!! Enjoyed the dancing came home with personalised poems and came home feeling very inspired thankyou

User

Water Fools - Visually a great production. We felt that the whole performance was about break downs: First the vehicle then civil order and mental breakdowns. The last 5 minutes were complete mayhem with a cracking firework display.

User

WOW! What a fantastic performance! We couldn't take our eyes off the performers. Such a brilliant evening with my family and friends...... Thank you!

User

The BIg Feast 2017, a fantastic fun filled day of the arts from puppetry to ballet acrobatics to a pink camper van. Immense couple of days. A massive well done to all involved 👌

User

Thanks for a great show this evening. Voala Station was mesmerising to watch and we all had a super night out. Can't wait for the next event.

User

Last night's performance of Growth was both exceptional and funny with some dark aspects.

It was fantastic to see the depth of the performance and the artistic skill being shown by all the actors involved.

This really is a great production to take someone to who has not experienced theatre before.

Miss this at your peril lol.

Thank you Appetite & Paines Plough Roundabout.

User

Last night's Enchanted Chandelier performance was out of this world. Thank you for an extraordinary evening. Just magical. Pls keep putting on these amazing events. Truly wonderful. Never seen anything like it. Only downside was the queues for food and drink but the show was fabulous and well worth traveling to see. Marvellous!

User

It was certainly an enchanted evening, well done to all the organisers, and thank you Trance Express for an excellent show.x

User

I thought it was brilliant. Art doesn't have to have a plot, just be visually pleasing and envoke devate and that's what it did, very visually pleasing. My kids loved it and my so too. We attended the bell a few years back and we will be attending again. Nice work guys, very eclectic 🖒

User

Followed all the way from 1st time in Hanley and really enjoyed it I love all the different things and the really friendly faces of the staff involved x

User

Emergency Exit Arts loved being in Stoke to help everyone celebrate Diwali. And a big thanks to all the local participants who took part in the lovely procession and to those who made the pretty lanterns.

User

Cracking afternoon! Well organised, highly talented performers who shared their skills with us all (patience appreciated). Thank you appetite, yet again, you have brought the arts to Stoke on Trent. Thank you!

User

Came to see waterfools after really enjoying the enchanted chandelier last year and was not disappointed. Amazing costumes and visuals. Talented performers, please don't let the people complaining affect any future events.

User

Appetite did it again tonight with The Enchanted Chandelier. Bewitching and magical!!! Great location, warm up acts, refreshments and very reasonably priced. Great organisation and incredible entertainment!

User

Amazing performance of Water Fools on Saturday night, Stoke needs more events of this calibre. Well organised, great fireworks and brilliantly surreal show with beautiful use of fire and floating contraptions! Well done all!!!

User

Absolutely amazing performance of the Enchanted Chandelier last night! I was mesmerised from the moment the show started! And my 8 year old daughter was just full of awe throughout! Brilliant atmosphere, warm and friendly crowd and very well organised! I wish there had been more food and drink stalls to combat the big queues! And more support acts before the show would have been an added bonus!! But I cannot fault the actual show at all! Well done Appetite/Transexpresse!

User

After an hour of lights, fire, stuff floating around, I still didn't know what it was all about. Enjoyed the fireworks.
