We are a family run business located in Colchester that recycle all white appliances within our qualified treatment facility we either recycle or reuse

We are a family business initially set-up 2 years ago, by four family members to provide a recycling stream for retailers in East Anglia, as part of their in-house take back scheme of second hand appliances, basically when a customer buys a new appliance, the retailer has an obligation to recycle the old appliance in accordance with the WEEE directive, this scheme has become ever increasingly popular we now employ 27 full time staff, collect from as far afield as the Isle of Wight and are expanding to a second location in Farnborough, Hampshire in the very near future.

We work with over 300 retailers most of which are from a buying group called Euronics, who are mainly family run businesses offering brand new white goods to their local community. We also collect appliances on behalf of Hughes Electrical who have 34 stores across East Anglia, over 100, 000 rental customers and 4 Bennetts Mega Stores. Our collection rate is increasing daily, but as it currently stands we are collecting between 550 to 600 appliances a day.

We work closely with the environment agency as we are a Approved Authorised Treatment Facility (AATF) of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), we are fully compliant with all environmental licensing, I have attached copies of our licensing and we work in accordance with the guidance set out by DEFRA for the Best Available Treatment Recovery and Recycling Techniques (BATRRT)

What do we do with all these appliances you may ask? Our company ethos is re-use is the best form of recycling, we do collect from retailers ‘the good the bad and the ugly’ of appliances. These are taken back to our AATF and visually checked for re-use or for recycling, appliances chosen for re-use are then sent to one of our two purpose built re-work centres for servicing, function testing and PAT testing. Our re-work centres produce over 300 refurbished appliances, each week, including cookers, washing machines, fridge freezers, tumble dryers, dishwashers. These are all supplied with a 3 month parts and labour warranty. We supply these white goods to the public, various charity organisations and other traders who sell refurbished white goods nationally.
