One of the most enjoyable sides of the hobby, aside from setting up a new aquascape, is maintenance. For me this task is very relaxing and it’s good to spend some time nurturing new aquascapes, watching them develop and grow 🌱💦🙏🙂
Pictured below we have one of our new aquascapes during maintenance. It’s now 5 weeks since start up. Extra care and attention is taken during the first 2 months during the growing in phase.

Minimal layouts with low planting and heavy hardscape can be deceptively hard to look after. Cleanliness becomes paramount to avoid algae. Lower plant mass and hardscape heavy layouts give algae extra opportunity to flourish. Minimal is not always easiest or low maintenance, but rock Iwagumi layouts look so cool! ⛰🌱💦
