A fantastic local cat rescue and rehab group (remember Ariel and her kittens) will be hosting a tea and cake community fundraiser at the Chicken Shed on Fordham on the 14th September 10.30-1.30pm. Why not pop along and enjoy a yummy cake to support this very worthwhile cause. And if you are feeling very generous you could take something for the cats in their care - food, toys etc.......
How to keep your cat happy during Happy Cat Month: Provide preventative medicine - no one likes fleas, ticks and worms.....especially your cat

Exciting times for the shop at Scampers.......they are replacing their flooring and we have had a sneaky peek....... it will look beautiful! They have requested that visitors enter the vets through the dedicated side door to minimise disruption while they are laying the floor. You will still be able to buy your pets a little something from the store so don't forget your wallet!
Have a great weekend!
Did you know that your pets can have 'back to school blues' too? After having lots of fun with the family during the school holidays they are suddenly left alone for longer periods during the day and there is less time for interaction with the children. Walking or playing in the morning so they are tired when you leave, giving them special toys to keep them occupied and leaving the radio or TV on a low volume can help them adapt.
The law states that all dogs must be microchipped and the contact details on the database be current. There has been a threat of fines for incorrect/out of date information and now some councils are starting to fine owners. We get a lot of stray dogs brought to the practice and at least 50% of the time we are unable to contact the owners, so they go to the local Council Dog Warden to either be collected or rehomed. Many dogs are not reunited with their owners......
For all our American friends.... UK law states that all dogs must be microchipped and details kept up to date on a UK database. It appears that there may be some confusion about who registers the chip details. For new puppies: The breeder should be registered as the original owner, but when you take on a new puppy you will need to change the details on the database. These contact numbers etc must be kept up to date to comply with the law. For dogs brought into the country: you must register the existing microchip with a UK database Visit www.chipworks.co.uk to register your overseas chip
Sheep parkour......
*********A happy ending - Maggie has been reunited with her family after her adventures this afternoon! *******
This beautiful girl has been found in Beck Row - she is chipped but the details have not been registered on a database! She is lively and would love to get back home.....
Dogs and water - a little something to make you smile!
What well trained chickens - a better response than some dogs!
This little cat came into the practice with a badly broken leg which left the owner with a very difficult decision, to pay for her to go to a referral centre for repair (with no guarantees of what mobility she will be left with) or to have the leg amputated. The decision was to go for amputation as this was the in the best interest of the cat. So she lost a leg and got a new name (Phoppy) and quite honestly hasn't looked back! Here she is sitting on the neighbours roof, having a wash and enjoying the evening sun without a care in the world.......#thiscatcan #tripodsrock
The end of the heatwave will be a welcome relief for many of us, but the cooler temperatures and imminent rainfall will produce optimum conditions for flea eggs to hatch. Many of the products you find in pet shops and supermarkets use old-fashioned, less effective drugs, whereas we can tailor any medication to your lifestyle and your pet. Don't leave flea protection until you have a problem - prevention is definitely better than cure!
Have a great weekend!
********he has been reunited with his owner and his chip details are now registered - thank you so much for all your help*********** This little chap jumped into a van in Beck Row and would very much like to go home! He is chipped but there are no contact details for him on the database - do you recognise him?
Such good news yesterday as the Government announced they are banning third party sales of puppies and kittens! Hopefully this will put an end to puppy farmers, who will sell their puppies through pet shops and private homes. But you still need to be careful that the puppy/kitten (and mum) are kept in good conditions not just presented in a clean and tidy area for your visit!
These dogs are helping to bring a forest back to life.......
Many rabbits are overweight which can cause major health problems from difficulties with grooming (and increased rick of flystrike) to heart, liver and even joints being affected. So the advice is to give a rabbit sized bundle of good quality hay a day with supplementation with a commercial rabbit food (muesli type food is not acceptable) which can be used to express nautural behaviour through foraging (scattering food, puzzle feeders) and bonding with owners (hand feeding). Portion control is essential so make sure you read the packaging carefully and make your bunny work for its food so you are increasing its exercise too.
Theo and Rob have been looking after all our dogs for over 20 years and we are so grateful and lucky to have them on our doorstep. On so many occasions, too many to count, I don’t know what we would have done without them and their team. They are on our speed dials now
Saw my dog as an emergency late at night. Helped my dog and reassured me no end. Fantastic and friendly service, can’t that you enough. Would highly recommend you! Thank you again!
Sadly we had to take our gorgeous dog Ruby last night to Bobby to have her put to sleep..... she had been poorly for nearly 10 months with terminal urethra cancer..... the support and kindness of Bobby, the nurses and the reception was amazing..... nothing was ever too much trouble......thank you so much for all you did for us and Ruby and making her as comfortable as she could be xx
I have used Aquarius for many years and have always been very happy with the service. I had a very sick dog that Rob actually came out to the car to asses and although we had to have her pts, it was done there and then without having to move her or stress her out at all. They have been kind and gentle with all my animals and when my JRT was castrated, due to getting very stressed at being left in a cage, he was lightly sedated until they were ready for him and they didn't charge any extra.I have also had to use their emergency out of hours service and again have found them extremely helpful and considerate. I would never think twice about using them or leaving my pets in their care.
