Arcubus promotes microfinance as an ethical financial tool which is good for the City and good for African entrepreneurs. We raise funds for micro-entrepreneurs in Africa, helping to build financial services, support microenterprise and fight poverty. Uniquely, we offer the Arcubus Experience, giving you the chance to share your skills with entrepreneurs on a bespoke field trip to Africa and experience first-hand how microfinance can change lives. With the Arcubus Experience, you can spend from 5 days to 6 months volunteering in the field with one of Arcubus' microfinance partners, The Microloan Foundation, Five Talents and Opportunity International. Our Experience trips usually target corporate teams and last just one week. We want to enrich your day-job but we know you can't spare much time away from the office. That's why we look after all the practicalities for you, providing you with full pre-trip orientation, finding comfortable accommodation for you and helping with the transport arrangements. We can even accompany your team in the field if you like. All you need to do is choose the country and the sorts of work you would like to do. You could find yourself training microentrepreneurs on business planning or basic book-keeping; carrying out surveys to measure social impact, introducing new technologies to MFI staff, recommending marketing strategies, problem-solving or trouble-shooting… Whatever your skills, Arcubus will help you find a way to apply them. We guarantee you will learn lots yourself too; typically people find they take away from these trips much more than they are able to give back. Some companies give employees time off for charity work and can offer matched-giving to help you cover the costs.
