A.R.Reflexology Description

What is reflexology ?
Reflexology is a natural holistic therapy treating the whole body. Every organ, gland and system can be treated by stimulating reflex points on the hands and feet.

Treatment
A full consultation will be carried out prior to your treatment.
The treatment last approx. 1 hour
You will be asked to relax on a reclining chair.
Your feet will be cleansed at the start of the treatment and a variety of reflexology techniques will be used and adapted to suit your individual needs.

You may feel different textures and sensations over the reflexes. These can include:
'popping'
'crunching'
'grainy'
'hardness' ( resistance to any pressure)
Reflexology will not hurt but you may feel tender on certain reflex points.

After the treatment
It is advisable to rest after the treatment (if possible)
Drink plenty of water to flush toxins away,
Avoid all stimulants which includes tea and coffee to help prevent re-introducing toxins into the body,
Suitable aftercare advice will be given,
Client feedback is very important and is much appreciated.

History of reflexology
Reflexology dates back 5000 years to
ancient Egypt. The discovery by V Loret in 1897 of hieroglyphics depicting a treatment is the earliest known evidence of reflexology.
Modern reflexology began with William Fitzgerald who was a surgeon and through his research found that pressure applied to fingers had an anaesthetic effect on the hands, arms, shoulders and up to the face. He used clamps on various fingers and found he could perform minor operations using this pressure therapy.
