Artemis Glass

Continuing the theme from my previous post here is a 1930's Bugatti. We made this for a car enthusiast who happened to live near the old Brooklands racetrack (that now has a Tescos slap bang in the middle of it!) I love the sleek shapes of the Art Deco style which we tried to use to give a feeling of movement. We used lots of textures and shades of gold for these Art Deco inspired panels (swipe left for overall images). I think the streaky opalescent worked really well in the background and looked fab with the light streaming through. We made 6 panels in total, 2 panels each in 3 doors and adapted the design slightly to fit each one.

Today we fitted the central panel I've been working on. We were thrilled with the reflection it cast. It reminds me of one of those colourful geodes you can buy. One of the beautiful things about stained glass is the way the colours change throughout the day 🌈💛🌈. Just been looking through some restoration projects that we've done. This was another nice one. The panels were very badly bowed and in need of some tlc. We replaced broken pieces and re-built with new lead. I've posted a lot of modern glass recently so now some Victorian panels that we restored a couple of years ago. These were stripped down, cleaned and re-built with new lead. This bathroom panel was made as a wedding anniversary present for the client's parents. It was a complete surprise and they were thrilled with the finished product. Made this panel a few years ago..still one of my favourites. It's the summer solstice, a time for mysteries and this is an ancient symbol used by many cultures. Sue and Michael completed a project that I started in 1999 but had neither the patience nor skill to finish. And even if I had possessed either I could not have done such a fantastic job as they have done. From design to installation - a total pleasure and I am so thrilled with the result.

Repaired the glass in the front door of our 1904 house. Did a wonderful job - and it looks like new! And it is lovely to support such talented independent businesses. Would definitely recommend and use again.

I asked for new panels to be fitted in our 1960s front door. I had a chat with Sue about what I had in mind and she came up with a design that was spot on. We then went through a huge range a glass samples and picked the colours which turned out totally amazing. Every time I walk past the door it puts a smile on my face.
