Artglass Uk Description

Artglass UK are designers and manufacturers of decorative glass panels for windows and doors. We employ various techniques including sandblasting, and are one of the only companies left who still carry on the art of acid etching to produce different tones of frosting and stippling which people will remember seeing in the public houses, and private residences of the Victorian period ! . These methods are perfect for more modern and contemporary designs too ! .
We also manufacture splashbacks for kitchens in an almost infinite variety of colours including metallic finishes and custom designs. We can also apply mirrored areas to produce some stunning effects! .
We produce traditional leaded windows, and can combine these with etched and painted glass to create beautiful windows and door panels.
We are a friendly, family run business with many years experience in our fields and we are passionate about our work ! . We are situated in Rotherham with easy access to the M1 and A1 motorways.
Please feel free to contact us and discuss your requirements.

A customer in Sheffield had a six panel acid etched window. It was made in the Victorian period and was very highly decorated. A van, parked outside their house caught fire, and the heat from the fire cracked all the glass. We copied the design and made the glass. The customer was highly satisfied. Here are some pictures of the glass as it came to us, some more from the manufacturing stage, and some of the completed work.

We have rebuilt a Victorian leaded window. The original had been the target of vandals, and most of the glass had been smashed but we found some old glass and used it in the rebuild.

In the Sharrow area of Sheffield, an original acid etched window, one of a pair, was accidently broken by decorators. On removal of the broken piece, we found that it was made of 3mm thick glass. As there was an infant in the house, it was decided that this would be very dangerous, should an accident happen, and both pieces were replaced with 6.4mm, laminated safety glass.

A lady in Sheffield had her leaded front door vandalised. The glass dates from the very early 1900's and the damage was too bad to fix on site. We used as much of the original glass as possible in the rebuild. The finished glass was refitted in the door.

We have made an acid etched window for a pub in Leeds called the Adelphi. We replaced one a number of years ago after it was smashed, and the same has happened again!. It is a listed building, so the correct glass had to be used to replace it. The design was a challenge because of it's complexity, and also the size of the window made handling difficult. The glass turned out really well, and the client was very happy with the result.

We have just made an acid embossed window to replace an original Victorian door panel in a house in Sheffield. It turned out well and our customer was very happy.

We were asked to make a granite memorial stone for an unmarked grave in the Irish Republic. There are 2 people buried there who died during the troubles in the early 20th century. Their death was tragic but I don't know how it happened?. A book has been written about them and I intend to find and read their story. The Celtic artwork and lettering were engraved in the stone by means of grit blasting and then infilling with white paint. It has been a very interesting piece of work but at the same time, quite sad. I hope to have more photographs when it is placed on the grave.
I have found out today that 'Le Cheile' means together. I love the inscription!

We have been asked by a customer to apply an image of their bulldog to a glass splashback. I traced the photo and turned it into line art. It was then transferred to a plotter and a stencil was made. The white shape of the dog was painted and the rest of the glass coated in black.

A splashback for a customer in Sheffield with a traditional floral design applied. We design a stencil which is placed on the back of the glass. Black paint for glass is sprayed on. The stencil is removed, and the rest of the glass is coated in white.

The Three Cranes pub in Sheffield had a window broken. It was a traditional brilliant cut piece of glass which is almost impossible to replace!.Instead of cutting the letters in on a wheel, we cut the design in with acid. We, and the customer are really pleased with the result!

Part of a set of glass splashbacks with a scroll effect on the piece behind the cooker for a customer in Sheffield.

A piece of glass in an alcove, coated black with holographic flake to give a really 'sparkly' finish!. We also made shelves and brackets in polished glass and UV bonded them to the surrface!.
