About Artmakers

ArtMakers is a not-for profit CIC (BCre8ive Art Makers CIC) working with artists in the Torridge and North Devon Districts of Devon County providing an online sales outlet, virtual gallery exhibitions plus training and support events. Online access to events will soon be available to members throughout the UK via streamingand the website. We provide a regular newsletter on local arts news, industry developments, competitions and funding opportunities. Art Makers is a development of BCre8ive Ltd arising from work undertaken between 2017 and 2021. The publication of BCre8ive's Creative Industries' paper 'Expanding the Creative Pipeline' set out a way in which freelancers and micro-companies could be empowered through the UK governments' Industrial Strategy. As part of this strategy BCre8ive along with Digital Catapult organised Creative Investment seminars in 2017 and 2018. Following these seminars we realised the scale of the funding problem facing sole traders and micro companies in the creative industriesand as a result it progressed a with proposals for new strategies for investment and business support in this area. Work on the online support service for Artists and Makers in northern Devon started in 2020 with research into the needs of the local artist community and with the support of Innovate UK, Artmakers was launched October 2021 as part of a national strategy to provide affordable and effective support for creatives across the UK. Since launch, we have developed a network of 80 local artist members, sold a range of local artworks through the website, run 3 internationally viewable virtual exhibitions with a 4th pending in July 2022 and organised a series of masterclasses and workshops across Torridge and North Devon. Further masterclasses and workshops are planned. The newsletter is now distributed to over 300 and have strong and increasing followers on facebook and instagram.
