Artsspa Description

I am really excited about ArtsSpa!
Children always had so much fun when I did it overseas, from 2010- 2014 so I am hoping it will be well received in the UK.
I am starting running them on Saturday mornings – starting in December.
Children don't have to come every Saturday - it's sort of like a place they can come whenever they want or whenever parents want some down time, but they need to be booked in beforehand just so I can ensure safe numbers.

A typical day would look like this:

10-2pm
£20 per child

10am -10. 10 welcome boogie – to warm up

10. 15 - 10. 45 Artfulness doodling / drawing skills painting ( early so paintings can dry before home time) this allows children to explore the many ways paint can be applied and ways to explore colour.

10. 50 - 11. 30 yoga and meditation – this allows children to breathe deeply and fully. Children these days live in quite a pressured and hurried world. When children learn to relax and become aware of techniques that help them navigate the world better, they become more resilient. They are able to navigate life’s stumbling blocks and challenges better.
Yoga helps develop self-esteem and body awareness in a form of exercise that is not competitive. Yoga helps develop cooperation, empathy, compassion for others and for self, so it makes sense to teach this early on in life.
Children benefit so much from yoga; it helps develop strength, coordination and flexibility. It improves their concentration and focus. It develops calmness and relation and allows them to connect to their inner authentic self.

11. 35-11. 55 snack and drink – children can bring a sandwich if they want but I'll provide fruit and a drink

12. 00- 12. 30 mindful colouring - Mindfulness gives children practical tools that help them connect to their central nervous system. Mindfulness helps children to regulate emotional states of mind and helps them become more focused.
When we learn to focus on one thing our minds become calmer and so mindfulness improves our attention. When children are able to concentrate for longer periods of time (very difficult these days with smart phones that encourage a ‘fliting’ state of mind) they increase their general performance.
Children are able to apply this focus to improve their ability in sports, school, the Arts and score higher in tests. We can all do better when we are better equipped to focus our attention onto what we are doing.
Mindfulness can help children to cope better with tough emotions and improves their impulse control. So rather than be reactive they can be reflective. They can learn to better regulate their emotional responses and be more thoughtful.

12. 35 -12. 45 Planting Positivity tips - Planting Positivity is my own devised course that helps you to gain more control of your thoughts and as a result your feelings. It shows us how our thoughts affect us and gives strategies for developing greater, more thoughtful, mindful processes that serves us better. It helps us to recognize the limiting thinking that is tripping us up and awakening our Amygdala. It shows us what worry, fear and anxiety feel like and helps us better regulate our emotions by explaining proven strategies that allow us to release the blocks and limitations. It is simple but incredibly effective.

12. 50 -1. 15 Lego interventions - Lego based work helps children improve their communication skills. The program is highly structured and predictable which appeals to children who struggle with communication skills and a prone to needing structure.
Lego intervention helps children resolve problems and improve their dexterity, finger pressure and fine motor skills which is a benefit to improving handwriting too. It also helps children express their feelings and opinions, communicate with others and develop relationships with others by turn taking, sharing and listening to instructions as well as learning to give instructions.

1. 20 - 1. 45 drama games- Drama is a great way to develop confidence, vocal projection, and self-esteem and body control. It allows children to safely explore emotions and mimic emotions for dramatic effect, which improves their emotional intelligence and empathy
Drama helps us to develop our own reflective and responsive behaviors’. It improves our self-awareness, and develops our speaking and listening skills. This helps children build a greater awareness of the world around them.
Children are encouraged to express themselves verbally, through facial expressions and nonverbal body language which in turn makes them better communicators.
Through the drama games children improve their cooperation skills. Drama games help develop friendships as children learn to laugh, and grow emotionally together in a safe space. It also improves creativity.

1. 50 - 2 snowball a crazy dance to increase mobility, self-confidence, expression, flexibility, cooperation and fun
