Evolution, adaptability & responsibility
Whether training, educating or working as a clinician the worst ideology that anyone can hold onto and abide by is the notion of not changing nor adapting ones practice/teaching style.
With the use of evidenced based medicine we should always be using this to push and develop our own knowledge, best practice and research paradigms to truly strive for enhancing patient care and educating the clinicans of the future. The location in whic...h we deliver this care also needs to be given a high degree of creadence.
Now, we're not sugesting for one minute going against company policies and procedures based on your own interpretation of a bit of research, not at all.
What we're saying is dig deeper, ask questions, become a researcher and set these wheels in motion and feed this back to your superiors.
After all, it wasn't a few years ago we were filling patients up with pasta water for heamorrhagic shock..and C collaring all neck pains and performing rapid take downs.
We need to place great importance on our research and clinical evolution...sometimes reviewing and adapting the wheel is a necessity. What do you think??
