Just had a very pleasant conversation with four of our newly-arrived guests. They were commenting on our hanging baskets and taking photos of them - they are looking really lovely now, enjoying all the sunshine and plenty of watering!
All our current guests are here for son's or daughter's graduations at York University. We were able to offer early breakfast to those who needed it - our first was 6.30am. Congratulations to all the graduates - wishing them all a fabulous day!
On this beautiful hot July day, as usual, our priority is our guests' comfort. All our guest rooms now have 4.5 tog summer duvets, electric fans and blackout curtains or blinds. Here's to keeping cool!

Had our back garden spruced up by Shaun Smith yesterday - what a great job he did, very thorough and very quick! We will definitely be having him as our regular Diarmuid Gavin!

Half-term has started! The museums trust always put on lots of activities for children - rain or shine. But a highlight for me in York this week is Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Whistle Down The Wind" at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre - fantastic!
Beautiful sunny day in York - everything looks so much nicer when the sun shines! Paul's being doing some maintenance on the automatic watering system ready for our famous fabulous hanging baskets in a week or so. Watch this space for photos!

Just checked out a new restaurant in York - The Whppet Inn on North Street. There was a lovely atmosphere and we felt relaxed and well looked after. The food was very good and the service excellent. We will happily recommend this restaurant and wish them every success.
