Ashbourne Tennis Club Description
The exact date when club was formed is unknown but Derbyshire’s own records show Ashbourne as an affiliated member of the Derbyshire LTA as long ago as 1968.
The club has members who remember playing on shale courts on Ashbourne Recreation ground as long ago as the 1950s /1960s. At this time, an open tournament took place on Recreation Ground courts and trophies were on display in the pavilion.
In the 1980s /1990s the club held club nights, and played Derbyshire League matches, on the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School lower school courts on the Old Derby Road site.
Following the move of the QEGS Lower School to the main Green Road site in February 2003, the club also began playing on the tarmac tennis courts at the main school site. The club has held club nights on Tuesdays (regularly) and Thursdays (on demand) ever since. The club also plays its league matches, and holds its annual competitions, on these courts.
In May 2013, the club moved to it's own new facilities off Moor Lane. As a result membership grew to 235 an increase of 250% .
Matchpoint Management are the coaching team for Ashbourne Tennis Club, they bring a wealth of coaching experience to the club and have some exciting plans for the future.
"Matchpoint Management have coaches with a proven track record of coaching players of county and national standard, particularly at under 12 level, We feel we have the knowledge and awareness of standards to continue player and Talent development at the club.
We believe Ashbourne would be a great club for Matchpoint Management to be involved with for the long term future and wish to grow the club to be one of the best performing clubs within Derbyshire. "

Summer league matches started last night with Men's 1st team taking on Duffield 2nds at home. Delighted to report a great 8 v 1 win for Ashbourne!!! Fantastic team spirit from our men - Greg Brookes-Clayton, Ben Catlin, Rob Ward, Matt Emmerson, Chris Warner and Andy Bailey. Well done boys!

Another brilliant evening spent with good company. Our Italian theme didn't just start with the room but included so much more! Fancy dress (Mr Pasta Man etc), Limoncello, Procecco and the most fantastic food! A huge thank you to Andy & Cat Bailey, Greg Brooks Clayton, Rich Tavernor and Susie Moore for organising and cooking for us all. 🥂🎄

Spooky night at Ashbourne Tennis Club last night for the annual Halloween Monster Smash!
Wow, what a great night at ATC's Monster Smash! Minis paired up with an adult to play a fun round robin tournament, from age 4 to, well we wouldn't like to say! Warming and welcome hot chocolate and hot dogs went down a treat. Thanks to those who helped make it another successful and fun event- you know who you are! 🎾👻👹😈🧙♀️🎾
