...Bit of peg tidying up and strimming done up Wiggs this afternoon on the big pond!
Tell the Mrs I'm doing bailiff checks for an hour... Come back smelling like pond water as usual πŸ˜‚
Some of the reeds/Iris that had grown over some of the pegs shifted over to the Silvers Pond also.

Been a manic couple of days, so an update for you on all things Ashby....
1. Subscription nights!
Third out of three subs nights was done and dusted on Friday evening! Another brilliant turnout which has put us in good stead for the upcoming season.
... Thank-you to all who have joined us for 2019-2020. πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
As we expected, our limit on tickets has been reached, so we will be giving it at least 2-3 weeks to see what venue pressure is like before releasing any more. At that we are talking 10-20 more members, tops.
It's a manic time for the helpers/committee that are involved - all of which are volunteers, aren't paid, don't get free tickets or anything and are an integral part of what we are trying to achieve at the AAC. Thank you to all who have chipped in over the last few months with subscription nights and similar - Jamie, Adey, Joe, Howard, Graham, Mick, Colin and co.
5 stars out of 5. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

2. Work party @ Wiggs.
...A cracking turnout today over at Wiggs Farm!
Loads of weed has been cleared out of the Silvers Pond, the boards on the walkway have been clipped down and some reeds have been planted. Every peg has been sweeped and is fishable - see the picture of Nathan and Lilly catching fish even after all the commotion of weed rakes etc! Brilliant to see kids getting into the hobby and makes the hard work more than worthwhile 😁.
-------------
Over at the big pond a couple of new pegs have been installed, a swim or two has been cleared of reeds etc and some general maintenance has been started (some signage has been put up, Ashby lock installed on the toilet door etc etc).
Big thank you to Adey, not Joe (who was definitely at work), Johnny Chappel, Ryder, Nathan, Layla, Darren, Nick, Simon, Howard, Rod, and Graham who helped chip in. (Apologies if I've missed anyone!)
Fishing clubs like ours would struggle massively without volunteers and the regular faces who have been helping out over the last few months (and then some!) all deserve medals for the work they've done. A turn out like today's at each work party and we'll be laughing.
Thank you to all involved, and well done.

...The new access gate is ready to go over at Wiggs Farm in the morning!
As of tomorrow Wiggs is no longer a day-ticket venue, with fishing only permitted to Ashby Angling Club members.
Anyone fishing, and anyone attending to help us with tomorrow's maintenance day, is to use this new entrance please.
... The owners have asked that there are no more cars going through the yard -or past the house- so please don't use the old ("usual") SLB Feeds entrance when fishing. Thanks.

Last subscription night of the year (3rd out of three!) is tomorrow, Friday 31st May, 18:00-20:00 at our fishing pond on Spring Lane, Swannington.
*IF* there's any tickets left after tomorrow evening they will then go on general sale at Pet Deli pet shop (Ashby) and Bacchus and Rhone tackle shop (Woodville) at some point the following week.... But in all honesty a sell out is looking increasingly likely at this stage.
If we do we go over our ceiling/limit on memberships... w...e will be waiting to see what venue pressure is like before we go releasing any more season tickets.
Thank you to all who have already joined/renewed for the coming season. πŸ‘
Cheers,
- Dan πŸ€“

Wiggs Farm opens on the AAC ticket on Saturday...
...Let's celebrate by playing with stinky grotty pondweed! πŸ˜‚
Final raking of the silvers pond before another dose of blue dye is applied - more hands the merrier if you can make it!
... First match of the new season fixtures list is on the silvers pond on Sunday 09th June... Lots of "carp lads" and pleasure anglers have been helping rake the place - let's have some match lads turn up to help also eh? πŸ˜‰

Club member & bailiff Simon (Smith) has made these signs up for us to display at our venues - nice one mate!! They look brilliant πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ -------------------------------------
It's already in the book about no fires/BBQs... But it's one we want to really drive home if we can due to the potentially serious consequences of anyone ignoring it. Already caught one person this year πŸ™„πŸ‘Ž
... Gas stoves are allowed for cooking if manned at all times, used responsibly and kept upright.
If anyone sees someone having a bbq, fire, littering.. or displaying similar antisocial behaviors please contact 1. Jamie (head Bailiff, his number is in the book) 2. Dan (on here, or via my number in the book) *ASAP* please.
Thanks!
