We visited for afternoon tea which was a gift for myself and my partner, we had the Sussex tea which had the extra sparkling wine truffles and I think two extra cakes , from walking in to leaving I noticed how happy the staff were and very pleasant , they are a credit to the hotel. I had tea to drink and they would ask if u needed a fresh pot , they even poured the tea. Such s relaxing experience. Afterwards they gave us a map of the gardens where we walked around and we even went inside the church , first church I've seen with a bar inside and a function room.on the upper, absolutely beautiful. Would love to have my next wedding here but we live in Nottingham but who knows as I am so tempted. Again thankyou for the afternoon tea we shall be back.

User

We had a wonderful time , staff were lovely, the service was great we are going to go back again very soon, plus get our family some time there also 👍

This is only to review the spa, not the hotel.

Was met by the lovely lady at reception, given towels and robes and taken to the lounge to wait. After filling in a form we where shown around and given our timetable for our treatments. We had three treatments from 2.30 onwards. So we decided to go for a quick swim. This was a mistake! Lovely pool shame about the 7-8 year old screaming and jumping in the water ( jumping and diving is not allowed but no one to police it!) Gave up trying to swim and waited till they left. After the 11 to 11.45 water aerobics we could have a quick 10 minute dip with no screaming children. Went to have a shower before our 1oclock scheduled lunch. Lunch is ordered when you arrive as it is bought over from the hotel. Showers had no shampoo which wasn't said online. Lunch was nice, but there was a party of around 20 people in the lounge. They where very loud and certainly ruined the relaxing feel of the spa. (We didnt complain as we understand it isnt the spas fault, just the people who had no respect for other guests. We where given £20 off for the disturbance without needing to complain which is great!) We waited for our treatments outside of the lounge as the noise was too much. Gillian and Cathy then came to collect us (myself and my Mum) for our treatments. We had an Indian head massage, back and shoulder massage and then a pedicure. Being my first spa I was a bit unsure about the lack of clothing I could wear but Gillian was great and I felt at ease.

Will definatly return for spa treatments. The changing rooms and showers are a bit tired looking.

The staff are truly exceptional and elevate the stay from a lovely quiet break to a feeling of really being pampered. Beautiful, beautful grounds and very comfortable hotel. A fantastic events hall too - we will be back!

User

Surprise present from our son: all the staff were friendly and very efficient. The concierge even lent us wellies so that we could go on one of the (muddy) walks. Spa treatment was great, staff very keen to please. We had a suite (Sycamore) with great views. Very comfortable place to stay, food excellent.

User

My mum and I have just come back from a 2 day spa break and I have to say we were treated amazingly as soon as we walked through the doors from the girls on reception, to the concierge, to the staff in the restaurant and the club house to the beauty therapists. Nothing was ever too much, every single staff member was friendly when passing them in the halls with a smile on their face, the food was beautiful, the room was clean and well prepared, the view from our room was stunning and the facilities at the country club were really good. We will definitely be coming back regularly in the future. I highly recommend this hotel and country club

I was attending a Financial Services Seminar with my Mother, for Afternoon Tea and later on Dinner and Dancing. All served in the Chapel, with it’s beautiful stained glass windows.....a perfect venue for Weddings.

We checked in slightly early, ( some Hotels won’t let you do that) as we had asked for a Twin room, but didn’t realize there wasn’t a Lift. No problem for the Lady on Reception,we were upgraded for the same price.

Our Room was large and well equipped, tastefully decorated with good amenities.

I travel for a living, and that was an extremely comfortable Bed ,like sleeping on a feather! VI Spring, was the Brand, with lovely Bed Linen by Exclusive Linens Ltd.

Every single member of Staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful,I can’t sing their praises enough.I” m looking forward to coming here again.

The food was very good too. We checked out the Spa,which was great if you’re a keen Golfer or had Treatments booked,no wandering down there in your Bathrobe though, separate from the Hotel. After staying at Pennyhill Park in Bagshot I’m a bit spoilt....

Overall this was a really fabulous Hotel with lovely Staff and Facilities

User

I stayed here, with my partner, for a one night stay. We had booked a table in the restaurant for an evening meal too. The service, from the minute we walked in to the Reception, was outstanding. Our room overlooked the park, which made for a stunning view. We had lunch in one of the lounges and then dinner in the restaurant. The food in the restaurant was superb. My only minor issue was that the staff started setting tables for breakfast, while people were still eating their meals. At one point a waiter was setting a table right next to a couple who were in the middle of their meal. I do think, that for a venue of this quality, the staff should wait until the restaurant is clear before setting up for the next service. Other than this small point, we both had an awesome stay at this venue and would highly recommend it to anyone.

User

I have visited Ashdown Park on many occasions. Wonderful attentive service . Beautiful scenery fabulous setting. I would recommend this lovely hotel without hesitation ..5 stars all round

User

Extremely lucky also to have a lovely summers day, to enjoy afternoon tea at such a lovely venue. Staff made you feel so welcome and Kristina was a real credit to the hotel making sure we had everything we needed.

Thank you. Living so close by sometimes one does not appreciate what is right under your nose!

User

Excellent afternoon tea. The sandwiches were delicious, the scones light and very tasty and as for the cakes , wow !! Beautifully cooked and all presented in lovely surroundings and served by friendly, helpful and very professional staff. Good selection of teas to chose from Recommended

User

Amazing amazing all you can want, great staff most attentive, great food, great service, spectacular grounds worth a visit

User

Oh what a fabulous over night stay!

From checking in to checking out everything was perfect.

Our room (18) was beautiful - very confortable spacious and tucked away

We had sandwiches and drinks in the garden and service excellent and lunch perfect. We would have opted for afternoon tea but we had dinner booked and didn’t want to spoil that!

Dinner in the restaurant with a cocktail beforehand - food very good and again service excellent! Although good the wine expensive for basic bottle - but hey ho!

We had massages booked during the day and both of us agreed were good.

Breakfast - excellent fruit/juices/yogurts- but found the English breakfast not hot enough just warm and my tea again Luke warm. But that didn’t cause any problem as everything else was lovely.

We were very lucky as weather was glorious so had a lovely walk in the grounds before heading home

Would certainly book again and would recommend as we felt very special throughout our stay -

User

Hotel is beautiful, grounds spectacular, our room was amazing, hotel staff so helpful and pleasant. We played golf and used the spa - all good. Watched the football in the country club, which was good fun! Food was a bit hit and miss - stunning food on Friday evening (the lamb and the guinea fowl) but the beef wellington was very odd on the Saturday. Nice beef but pastry was soggy and wet and dish tasted like it had been padded out with tofu! Yuk 😬

User

Everything was lovely, with the exception of the heat in the room and the noise of an outside generator going all night. There was a portable fan in the room, but it was rather loud and didn't really make it any cooler. The decor is something my mother would absolutely love, but it wasn't entirely our style.

That said, everything was clean and the buildings & grounds are beautiful. The staff were top notch, making what could have been an average stay enjoyable.

User

We got married at here in 2008, we’ve visited regularly ever since and always been blown away with the staff, facilities, rooms etc.

Yesterday we came for afternoon tea and there were lots of things that just weren’t right. To start with, we seemed to be in an overflow room (we are usually in one of the lounges), our waitress was fairly rude and uncommunicative, she came and gave the adults in the party some champagne yet didn’t offer the children anything, she poured our tea (leaving lots of leaves in each cup) then forgot to bring milk which we requested twice, the scones seemed small and absolutely caked in icing sugar, we left most of the cakes as they just weren’t very nice.

There was lots of noise and boisterous children near us.

Such a shame as we usually love it here. I really hope standards aren’t slipping!

User

I just love it here so we had decided to go for a late lunch so just a Sandwich and a drink

But unfortunately the Sandwich are no way as lovely as they have been in the past.

Sure the bread has now changed which is such a shame not sure it worth as much money as before, may try again and see if things are better at some time.

What a complete disappointment. We came here for my partners birthday and I feel completely ripped off. I was expecting a wonderful spa night away. That it wasn’t. Food was dreadful, and the spa? What spa? A dingy pool with dark lighting and oppressive heat. I didn’t even bother going in. And all for the price of £285 for the night. Don’t waste your money. Go somewhere else. There are so many better places to go locally.
