As President of Ashford Town Cricket Club I would like to offer my heartfelt condolence to the family of David Tredwell, who died on New Year's day.
Our thoughts are with David's widow, Lorraine, son Thomas and daughter Lauren as we mourn David's passing at home surrounded by his family.
A gifted sportsman throughout an energetic life, David excelled at cricket, football and hockey. I knew him as a friend and playing colleague at Ashford Cricket Club for almost 30 years.
... Rarely have I seen a more committed and amiable all-rounder than David, younger brother of John Tredwell, who also excelled at the town cricket club before moving to Folkestone CC, and uncle of James Tredwell, the former England, Kent and Folkestone cricketer.
An attractive hard-hitting batsman, David had all the strokes at his command with a capacity to unfold a glut of runs against the clock when the occasion demanded. It was always a joy to watch a Tredwell innings, especially when his belligerent run-making made him a vital component for any team embracing the growth of Kent League cricket.
His medium paced bowling, always accurate and controlled with surprising movement in the right conditions, unhinged many a middle-order, and when it came to fielding, he had all the panache imaginable to snatch catches and cover enough ground to turn boundary fours into twos with an athletic swallow dive.
He was an umpire's dream, amiable, unquestioning of decisions, and as sporting in defeat as in victory in many seasons of service to the Ashford club. His last appearance at the club was last June when he and his wife Lorraine attended a reunion lunch to share a few hours with old colleagues, including former teammate Alan Ealham.
We shall miss that cheeky grin, mischievous smile and sportsmanship hallmarked by all the Tredwell dynasty as we say farewell to David at a service of committal to be held at Hawkinge Crematorium on Wednesday, 16th January at 2.30pm, followed by a reception at Wards Hotel, Earls Avenue, Folkestone CT20 2HB.

Notice of Ashford Town Cricket Club AGM
The AGM will take place at the clubhouse on Wednesday 21st November at 8.00pm. As most people are aware Liam has stood down as first team captain and Matt is returning home to Australia – We will therefore need to appoint two new captains at the AGM.
The process for this as follows – All proposals need to be sent to me by email (neiltegg@hotmail.co.uk) at least 7 days before the meeting ie by 14th November. Please note nominations will ...NOT be accepted on the night.
Also please could all existing committee members confirm to me they wish to continue for 2019. Please remember that by being a committee member you are volunteering to play an ACTIVE role in the running of the club. I am very keen for the club to build on its successes of this season so new ACTIVE Committee members would also be very welcome, Just drop me a line.
If any members wish to raise any matters at the AGM it would be useful if you could drop me a line with brief details of these beforehand to ensure I can give full answers to anything raised.
To all Members – Remember IT IS YOUR CLUB, please make every effort to attend this important meeting. See you all on 21st November All the best Neil

Our chairman let the side down last night going for a traditional blue bankers shirt rather than one of his trademark flowery numbers! But don’t worry the Shit Shirt appreciation society bailed Neil out!

Brilliant end to a successful season at the ATCC 2018 Club Dinner.
I won’t bore you with too much from Neil’s speech (because we all suffered 😴) but one highlight was that throughout the season there has been fantastic team spirit and we have lots to be proud of!
Photos of our winners are attached!

I need to give the caterers exact numbers by 28th September. Starters and Dessert must to be chosen beforehand. I also need to know the exact number of vegetarians. Payment must also be made before the event.
So please could everybody let me know as soon as possible how many places they require together with their Starter and Dessert Choices. ALL MEALS MUST BE ORDERED AND PAID FOR by 28th SEPTEMBER. If anybody does want to pay by cash this is fine as long as I have the money by 28th September.
The evening is very much a celebration of the 2018 season and is of course open to all. Lets get as many wives, girlfriends and family to attend to make it a fantastic evening.
See you all there - Neil
