Ashwell Archaeology Description
34 test pit excavations in people's back gardens are taking place in Ashwell on 10th September 2011. It is part of a wider initiative with 205 test-pit excavations taking place across the region. It's all part of the Cultural Olympiad for 2012 project called Dig and Sow. Ashwell is the Hertfordshire representative. Based on teh theme of "Home" the 1 metre square mini archaeology digs will be in Ashwell residents' gardens.
The project is being overseen by Carenza Lewis of Time Team fame, supported by the Pacitti Company, North Herts Archaeology Society and teh Ashwell community.
