Come and join us on our pre-booked guided Hellebore Tours, a unique opportunity to ‘go behind the scenes’ on our nursery and discover the fascinating story behind our Chelsea Gold award-winning hellebores.
You will learn how we grow them and see our beautiful hellebore stock plants from which we collect our seed….they are quite simply stunning and demonstrate perfectly why our world-famous hellebores are regarded as some of the finest ever produced.
At the end of the tour th...ere will be the opportunity to purchase specially selected hellebore plants that are exclusive to the tour (subject to availability) as well as a hand-picked selection of plants and bulbs for winter interest.
Essential information: - A variety of dates available throughout February 2019 - Duration approximately 50-60mins. - Tour times: 10.30am | 1.30pm - Essential to book in advance. Went with a coach party and can't praise it enough!! The staff in the tearoom were extremely friendly, helpful and considering they were serving most of the coach as soon as we got there, they were very quick and efficient!! Food was excellent. Cafe and plants were all reasonably priced and John and his garden were amazing. I wish I lived closer so I could go more often. Well done to all.

We went to one of the open garden events. Well worth doing because John’s Garden is always beautifully maintained and brimming with ideas. It is also much bigger than you expect. I have been a few times and it is still bigger and better than I expect each time! The garden centre is well run and the stock is always good quality. I have watched this business grow and develop over that last 30 years. It is now a mature tree from humble roots. There are always going to be minor incidents for any big shop that get reported in places like this. They usually seem to be about the tea room. But it rather depends on what you choose to focus on; the few weeds on the edge or the lush grass in the middle.

We paid a visit to the garden centre yesterday for the 1st time and really love this place. It has so much choice and the children were happy they have a play area whilst we enjoyed afternoon tea and home baked cakes. Such a lovely place and we'll definitely be coming back.

We had a great few hours here, brought some lovely plants and a couple of bits from the garden shop, staff are lovely very helpful. We had lunch in the Tea Room food was brilliant freshly cooked, hot and tasty will definitely go again

The food here is first class - all times of the day - breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea - all superb. Inspired and varied choice of menu - just had brie, leek and cranberry toastie..was divine. Scones and cakes are heavenly too. Staff are great and service is quick despite it being a busy, popular place to eat (never had long to wait for a table). Will continue to keep going back for more!

My mum and I both absolutely love it here!!!! The lunches and homemade cakes are always fabulous. Personally, what truly makes it for me though is the fact you can bring your dog!!!! Feel very lucky to have this beautiful nursery within 5 minutes of my house!!!!!

My family and I loved be the tea room including my 12 year old granddaughter always beautiful cakes and the best hottest tea I think I have ever had. My husband love bed all your plants and could spend hours in your gardening shop whilst I adore your shop you have the best cards around Thank You 😍

Had a wonderful morning - the nursery is amazing: lots of well planted beds where you can see inspiring plant combinations; incredibly tidy, clean and healthy stock all well laid out; helpful, informed & friendly staff; a tearoom full of yummy cakes and a hearty breakfast... awesome all round. Can recommend the Hellebore Tour - get to see the whole process behind the scenes with a chap who knows his stuff. If you live anywhere in the Midlands, get yourself over there (and take your wallet/purse)!!

Had a lovely morning here. Wonderful breakfast in the tea room, staff were very nice and friendly. Garden centre was beautiful, with excellent access for the pushchair. The orchid extravaganza was so worth the visit, such vivid colours. Wish i had found a Vandra orchid, maybe next time.

Had a lovely morning at Ashwood starting with a breakfast in the tea shop which was gorgeous everything was piping hot including the plate!! Staff were very friendl and helpful . Some lovely things in the gift shop and some beautiful plants for indoors and out will definitely be going again if only for breakfast!!

Excellent customer service! I placed an order online and within half an hour received a phone call to say they unfortunately didn’t have the exact item I asked for but could send one very similar, and would also send via a different courier and refund the difference in postage. Thanks so much for all your help!

Beautiful garden centre, a real pleasure to visit and, really, a hidden gem as I have never seen it advertised! Great selection of plants and garden accessories. Lovely cafe with tasty cakes! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and we will now return regularly.

Ashwood Nurseries are brilliant. Clean healthy plants. Well watered and carefully grown and tended. I have been going there since we had our first house and garden back in the early sixties. The tea room is excellent. The cakes scrumptious the soup and meals delicious. The gift shop really comprehensive with a fine array of jigsaws displayed assembled on the walls and ceiling. I love going to Ashwood !!

Always have a fabulous cooked breakfast here. Visit regularly, some of the staff could be a little more pleasant at times though. Lovely selection of plants in the nursery.

The quality of the plants was excellent and there was a good choice but I was disappointed by the tea room. It seemed dated and the staff were abrupt with customers. The tea was fine but the atmosphere was just not as relaxed and friendly as I'd hoped. I got the impression that it wasn't there for the nursery customers and was aimed more at people just going for food and drinks.

Great place as a pitstop when walking the dog. Have eaten here on numerous occasions and find the quality very good and service spot on. Only wish they could extend the outside seating area on a lovely sunny day like yesterday it was a struggle to find somewhere to sit especially as we had our dog with us.

Having been here numerous times before i found this time not so enjoyable, the experience was to do with your cafe and staff, as it was a busy time at 1.00pm myself and my elderly godmother found a table to sit down, within a few minutes we was rudely told by a member of your staff that the table was reserved but there was no reserve sign on the table, apparently the table was for a disabled person which yes I implied ok I would leave but my protest is that I'm still a paying customer and no help by your member of staff to try and find somewhere to sit, perhaps I should suggest you to train your staff with manners and customer service

Can’t get over the pettiness in this tea shop....so you can get a little biscuit with some drinks and not others...so if you are with friends some on the table get the little treat with their drink and the rest don’t. To top the lot ....when visiting on Wednesday afternoon my daughter wanted a double scoop ice cream....yes madam, that’s possible but only double scoops of the same flavour, we can’t mix flavours in one cone!!! I have NEVER been to an ice cream counter and been refused two or three scoops of whatever flavour I desired... and this is an ice cream aficionado speaking. So two scoops of Strawberry flavour were selected which then came in a sugar cone that we had as children more years ago than I care to own. So there we are with relatively good ice cream and no waffle cone. For a cafe that sells fabulous looking cake and amazing looking pastries please address these issues for those of us who like to call in with friends for a hot drink and love ice cream.

I recently went to the tea room with my parents for tea and cake. We had a £50 voucher that we had checked we can use beforehand. When paying we were told that it was not possible to be given change (even as vouchers) and they had a similar problem during the day in which another customer had given over their voucher and not received change. As the price came to £13 we paid cash rather than sacrifice our £50 voucher. On leaving we enquired in the gift shop and were told we should have received gift vouchers as change. I think that the woman serving us made no effort to find this out and clearly did not know how to handle the situation and therefore 'guessed' and left us in a situation where we received less than sub par service. Genuinely shocked that this is how customer service is handled. The gift voucher cost £50 and the idea that we would have to spend it all in one sitting (especially in the tea room) was disgraceful. The cakes were lovely, but overall was ruined by this lack of care for customers.
