Went with my partner and 2 kids. Staff were lovely and paid extra attention to the kids which was nice. Meals were lovely, in fact both kids ate the lot which is very rare.

Simply excellent all round. Top quality pizza with the very best of service. We had a top evening.

My partner and I go to Ask Durham quite frequently and always find the staff friendly and courteous, the lunch menu is great value for money - simple but well cooked and when we've ordered from the main menu we've also found it lovely. We always go in with our baby daughter in a pram and we are always accomodated for - enough room for us and staff have happily let us heat a bottle. We will continue going back

Excellent Food, very clean, excellent service, I do forget our waitresses name but she served us yesterday at lunch and cannot ask for a better greeting and service, very highly recommended from myself and my partner 👍🏻

Currently dairy and soya free due to breastfeeding my little boy who has a cows milk allergy. Waitress extremely helpful and gave me both vegan and full allergy menu and offered to adjust any option to suit. Loads of options which is so unusual!! Had vegan pizza with added meat which was amazing!! Will be back very very very soon!

Was there yesterday with my daughter, staff was very polite and courteous throughout food we had was of great value however, mine could have been a little hotter, apart from that it was a lovely place.

Was at Ask Italian in Durham on Sat 21st July to celebrate my retirement with my family. We were a table of 17. The food was lovely, but understandably the service was a little slow with a packed restaurant on a Sat night and a large group to serve. Our waitress was lovely though and worked very hard to keep us all happy.

Very good food, good service, nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely return.

Last minute dinner plans during a short weekend break in durham city centre ended up being a very nice night with good food, good drink and good service! We found a voucher for 25% off which made it even better because everyone loves a deal! It obviously was working because even at 8:30 it was still ticking over nicely despite the other popular restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

we were greeted almost immediately when we walked through the door, given the choice of a couple of tables and were sat straight away and given menus. we ordered drinks which came in good time and ordered very soon after. we ordered calamari and bruschetta to start and bruschetta starter and a bolognese pasta dish (sorry i forgot the name!!). my calamari was quite a huge portion, rings battered and deep fried served with a dip. the bruschetta came on two huge slices of toasted bread topped with diced tomatoes in some kind of dressing which tasted amazing and topped with grated parmesan. Balsamic and EVOO were supplied to drizzle. Again, a huge starter so thankfully I had it as a main course but couldn't finish it. My partner enjoyed his bruschetta and his pasta main dish he said the pasta was too al dente for him (nothing wrong with it though, it was cooked correctly but it was just his preference) and such a big portion he couldn't finish his either! The pinot Grigio wine i ordered was so nice and went down so easily I had to have two haha and his Sicilian lager was also quite nice. I can't remember how much the bill was but I know it was under £40.... really cheap but very enjoyable and the two ladies serving were great!

I had the gluten free carbonara with extra pancetta. It was very tasty and it was a good sized portion. However, we waited approximately 40 minutes for our order and quite some time for the bill. The staff were friendly and the place very clean and has a cosy atmosphere.

I used to think that ASK was a cut above the competition (Pizza Express, etc) but not since eating at the Durham restaurant at about 8pm on Sat 11th March......

Our first waitress was an absolute joy, but clearly her shift finished before we did.... and the 3 different colleagues who followed her with the service for dessert, the bill and the final payment could not have cared less about our "customer experience". Not one single member staff had the interest, the courtesy or the business acumen to notice, let alone acknowledge, us leaving.

Extremely disappointing.....

User

I rated it as simply okay, I've been there a few times, and every meal I've had has been just okay, and not delicious. I'm a vegetarian, and find that lots of other restaurants have now caught up and realise that vegetarian food is incredibly tasty. Come on Ask, catch up . Nice place and lovely staff, but don't forget the food.

User

Food less than average. The starter I had, with cold tasteless cheese, rocket and rubbish tomatoes. Oh dear me, no chef would serve this... Idea.. warm goats cheese on crusty bread with salad and warm balsamic / marmalade dressing. Cook instead of defrost/ warm up. Thank god I had great company.

Couldn’t fault the food which was very nice. Only 3 stars because of the slow service, maybe it was extra busy it being Mother’s Day but surely it should’ve been staffed appropriately to cover for that.

Anyway we’ll probably be back as we enjoyed our meal but if the service is still as slow then that’ll be our last time.

User

Uncooked salmon returned for replacement. Lemon drink not offered. Ridiculous wifi log in process. Polite staff.

Posted on trip advisor and wanted to reiterate went a couple of weeks ago on a Friday night with work colleagues. At best customer service was disappointing and food was just warm and overpriced. Would not recommend based on my experience
