Inspired by the great Sir David, weŌĆÖve been moth trapping - and having great fun identifying the species resident in the wildlife park! ¤ĢĄ’ĖÅŌĆŹŌÖĆ’ĖÅ Can any of you identify these guys (a few of our favourites from last night!) ¤ĢĄ’ĖÅŌĆŹŌÖé’ĖÅ

WeŌĆÖve just had our monthly visit from the International Zoo Veterinary Group. On the list today: fat or foetus? Gretel the armadillo is overweight, but might she also be pregnant? A rather uncooperative patient and a borrowed ultrasound (from our vet nursing department) have left us still unsure, but weŌĆÖre not ruling it out yet!

¤ī│ Have you ever seen a brass band in a tree? ¤ī│ Our college arboriculture department he had a fab time at the Deer Shed Festival... including helping Hyde Park Brass get 9 musicians and their instruments into 3 trees for a rather spectacular performance! #horticulture #AskhamBryanCollege #ClimbTrees #DeerShed9 ¤ī│¤ÄĄ¤ī│¤ÄĄ¤ī│

We'd like to say a big THANK YOU to all the students who have volunteered in the wildlife park this year - you've been amazing! We've had some incredible students this year (including Giuliana, pictured here). We couldn't be prouder of the feedback we get about you from our visitors - be it through chatting to visitors on their way out, facebook, TripAdvisor or our mystery shops for the Visit York Awards. Your enthusiasm and dedication has been recognised and commended again and again. Our students have done us proud representing the best of the college to our visitors over the last year - next year's students have a lot to live up to!

Worth a visit! Went for the first time today and thought it was lovely! The animals had nice big enclosures, all well maintained and the staff I spoke to were friendly too. Loved the raccoons house! Cafe was very reasonable for hot drinks and food.

User

What a lovely afternoon we've had today at this place.

Such lovely grounds to walk through and my son loved the play area.

So many different areas to have a picnic or a little rest on many of the benches dotted around.

There are pram friendly paths everywhere and plenty of facilities.

We only had a short visit but we loved it that much we turned our ticket into a season ticket so we can come back lots more over the year!

The Cafe looked great and eaily accesible. Didn't get to try the food or use my 10% discount before 12 midday for season ticket holders on this occasion but we'll defintly be back!!!

Thank you

User

What a hidden gem!! Visited today as a family, animals are in lovely well kept enclosures, whole environment is clean. The gardens are gorgeous and very spacious. Lovely playground. WeŌĆÖve had a lovely visit and will be back!!

User

We just had my sonŌĆÖs 7th party here and it was brilliant - the staff couldnŌĆÖt do enough to help, great party lunches, lots of space and brilliant creature experience. Thank you

User

We have been here a few times already but on this occasion my son had a broken ankle. I messaged them the day before to enquire if the had a wheelchair he could use. Caroline replied the same evening and was extremely helpful and sorted out a wheelchair for us for the next day ! This is one of my boys favourite places to visit as he wants to be a farmer or work with animals and all the staff really made his day !! No member of staff couldŌĆÖve done more for us on his visit so a big thank you to everyone. WeŌĆÖll be back when the cast is off ¤ś£

We had our little boys 3rd birthday party here yesterday and we all had a great time! First we had an animal interaction session where the children got to touch a snake, a tortoise, a hedgehog like creature and a stick insect. The lady who took the session made it suitable for their age group, so kept their interest the whole time. We then spent some time exploring the rest of the park, and finally took our lunch boxes down to the picnic area by the pond as it was such great weather. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend.

We had my daughters 10th birthday party at Askham Bryan wildlife park last weekend and we all loved it. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had an animal interaction with 2 different reptiles, a very cute creature which looked a bit like a hedgehog, and a stick insect which the kids and adults loved! The amimals were obviously well looked after and the grounds were beautiful. Cant wait to return and spend longer there. Many thanks.

User

Third time we've been and we love it every time. Nice to see new animals and all the hard work you've put in with new addition. Tried the new cafe and had a lovely lunch. Keep up the good work.

User

On our doorstep with the A64 a stones throw away. Fantastic day out and we had it to ourselves for most of the time. Lovely staff and willing to talk about the different animals. Everything is spotless and maintained well. The animals looked happy but most of them were eating lunch. Keep up the good work.

User

My grandson , Ollie and I love this place. We are fortunate enough to be able to pop by regularly to see and learn about the new arrivals The talks and demonstrations have been really informative and I've been very impressed by the enthusiasm of the students to engage with the public. A big thanks to you all.

User

Highly recommend the zookeeper for a day experience, my 11 year old loved it all. She was able to feed, clean and care for a wide range of animals, supervised by really lovely staff. The whole day was amazing, lots of great memories. The park itself is lovely, lots of nice picnic areas and beautiful gardens. The animal areas are great, lots of information and space to see the animals.
