In 2017 Mark was lucky enough to be able to buy one of these rarely available older style lodges at Finlake - we are refurbishing it to the highest standard to create a luxury hide away for us, holiday makers, friends and family. We feel especially fortunate that we will be able to make the lodge available to our paediatric cancer family friends - more about this when the lodge is in a better state as it isn't fit for kids in treatment, or suffering from treatment side effects at the moment (July 2017). ¤ī│¤ī▓¤ī│¤ī▓¤ī│¤ī▓ Forest bathing is a distinct possibility at the lodge, in fact, itŌĆÖs one of the things I love the most here - just being amongst the trees, listening to the leaves rustling and the birds singing. We have just added a nifty little tool to help our guests during their stay, the Pip Travels App: https://www.piptravels.com When you stay with us we will give you a unique access code to the app (needs to be downloaded for free from your app store). YouŌĆÖll then find information like user manuals to appliances, WiFi details, blanket box codes, info on restaurants and things to do, all in one place and paperless, so no more brochures and catalogues flying about!

Waterfall at Babbacombe Beach ¤Æ”
Day 3 - we woke up to rain pelting down on the tin roof, a sound I find very soothing. We decided to go to IKEA (newly opened in Exeter) for a lampshade, inspiration and cinnamon rollls ¤śü After lunch the sun came out and we made our way over to Teignmouth, across the river to the quaint village of Shaldon (lovely village centre and stunning views), then continued on to Babbacombe Beach. I follow Babbacombe Style and love NickyŌĆÖs photography of Babbacombe. We parked at Babbaco...mbe Beach (ŌØŚ’ĖÅnot for the faint hearted, but well worth it, take a pound coin for parkingŌØŚ’ĖÅyou can also park in town and walk down to the beach) then walked across a short but picturesque walk to Oddicombe Beach - itŌĆÖs so easy to walk that our 2 year old and very wobbly 14 year old (he had a brain tumour so he can be very unsteady) managed the whole way there and back, with a little assistance. Great afternoon! Back at the resort we had dinner at The Retreat (the menu is improving but still fairly heavily fried food based) and walking there and back tired the kids out enough for them to crash and sleep soon after we got back to a cosy lodge (the underfloor heating is just lush when itŌĆÖs cool outside!).
