About Asperger'S Voice Self-Advocacy Group, West Sussex

Asperger's Voice Self-Advocacy Group is a community group run by and for adults with Asperger Syndrome in the north of West Sussex.

Asperger'S Voice Self-Advocacy Group, West Sussex Description

The aims of the group include:

- to help others with Asperger's get better at speaking up for ourselves;
- to meet together, make friends and support each other;
- to raise awareness and acceptance of issues faced by people with Asperger's;
- to have a say in local policies and services affecting people with Asperger's.

The group meets monthly, currently 7-9pm on the last Thursday of the month in Burgess Hill (except December, when we meet a week earlier due to Christmas). Group members make the decisions about what the meetings are about, for example guest speakers, discussions around topics of interest, film nights.

If you would like to find out more about the Self-Advocacy Group, please contact us. As the Group is run by and for adults with Asperger's, we are not inviting friends, parents, carers or other supporters to join. If you are a friend, parent, carer or supporter of somebody with Asperger's, who you think might be interested in joining /finding out more about the Self-Advocacy Group, please forward this link and event to them. If you are interested in helping to fundraise for our small, nonprofit, community group, we’d love to hear from you!

Advocacy Support in West Sussex is currently at risk from funding cuts by West Sussex County Council. This will affect the future of Community Advocacy and the 6 Self Advocacy Groups that Impact Advocacy Support, which includes Asperger's Voice.
Please sign this petition to help highlight the need to protect advocacy services, ensuring that people in West Sussex with a disability can continue to speak up, be listened to and have their rights secured.
