My wife and I used this lounge yesterday before a 7hr flight. I have personally used lounges in numerous airports with 'Lounge Key' and Emirates Business Class lounges.

I paid for my wife and used my free access with 'Lounge Key' and I think the lounge was worth the money. We entered around 10.45am with cereals available, tea, coffee, fruit juices and coke etc. In addition, buns were available with scrambled egg, bacon and sausages available with in addition a small selection of Danish pastries.

Around midday the lounge changed the food to some salad options with sandwich fillers available and buns, plus a green Thai curry, some rice and some pasta.

Crisps were additionally available and soup with rolls throughout this time. Some alcohol refreshments are available and we found the staff to be pleasant, professional and very helpful.

The WiFi worked fine, we had phone signal including data and found the lounge to be comfortable. Overall I think for the cost of this lounge it deserves 5 stars and would use it again without a doubt.

User

Better than the other reviews would have you believe!! Nothing wrong with the service today. Food and drink plentiful, request for bacon sandwich out of breakfast hours - not a problem and promptly delivered. Worth the money for a very civil start to our holiday!!!

User

i booked a package with holiday extras , long stay car park aspire lounge & fast track . The lounge was welcoming greeted by a pleasant young lady on reception , it was nice to get in to the quite area , we were booked in at breakfast time , food was hot (eg sausage bacon , scrambled egg ) coffee was lovely pastries had just came out the oven , everything one likes at breakfast . Alcohol served freely too ,. I did notice in the time we were in there that people were having to wait for the hot food to be brought out all the time , but other than that I found it was value for money, and clean 👍🏻

User

Used it a few times, if you drink a lot then probably good value, however we don't so only had 2 drinks, wifi signal was dreadful, range of food not good, I don't think we'll try it again, only thing it has going for it is it's more comfortable than sitting upstairs, but money would be better off being spent elsewhere

User

It's always nice to get out of the hustle and bustle in any airport. Aspire is very clean with friendly staff

The only thing lacking is that there's not that much food to choose from

No Chrisps nuts or other sundries

When people pay to have a pass to get it I think Aspire could give us a better selection of food

Other airport lounges offer a lot more

It's not just about the alcohol

We're to start, I receive a dragon card as a perk with my bank this is my third refusal from the aspire lounge at Newcastle. I was told it was full. I asked if I came back later I was told no as there were too many people who had booked. I asked if using the dragon card another time should I book I was told that no bookings would be taken on any card. I did peep through and it didn't look that busy. I wonder if it is a way of getting people to pay so refuse those with passes. Will be contacting my bank to stop paying extra for nothing. Ab fuming

The old Cheviot lounge was nice and had an airy feel with big windows for you to look out of. The Aspire lounge on the other hand is a windowless box devoid of all charm or feeling. Just sit upstairs in the main bar in the airport and enjoy a drink before your holiday rather than spending any time in this dark little cellar.

User

Pointless. A couple of sandwiches, no beer on tap, no pastries ...half an empty biscuit barrel with broken biscuits, half the menu missing - you’d fair better going to Burger King. Waste of £50

User

Not a friendly place to visit. Bought my own business class ticket in, while approached the reception counter, the lady said my name was not on the list even with my boarding pass presented and stated clearly with Aspire Plus Lounge at the bottom of it and the staff has attitude problem. Don't expect to have this kind of service.

First time there and the food counter is smal. Not told if I could make order to have hot food.

User

Visited yesterday with four friends. Not impressed by breakfast, plates are tiny, bacon was underdone, buns were very dry as was the scrambled egg.

The most disappointing bit was the level of customer service. Staff were (I use this word reluctantly), miserable. The girl behind the bar complained to my friend that she was tired as she'd been up since 2.30am. The friend in question is a staff nurse in a busy A&E trauma unit...maybe the young lady who claimed she'd get confused by pouring two drinks at the same time should try a shift in there and see how tired she is.

Because of the tiny plates and feeling an inconvenience to the staff, is not recommend and certainly wouldn't be visiting again.

User

Very poor, that poor I wouldn't give it any stars....food included dried up ham (probably a week old!) dried out bread cakes...and coleslaw! I settled for a packet of crisps! I used the ladies whilst I was in there, not the cleanest toilets I've used either. We had our drink and went back upstairs. We won't be recommending your lounge to anyone.

User

Very poor! We receive passes as a perk of our bank account. When we went to the desk a sign stated it was not available to us as it was at capacity. Said we would wait and were told nobody else would be getting let in. Asked to upgrade to the aspire plus to be told the reason the lounge was actually unavailable was due to staffing issues. I contacted the bank who advised me to complain to aspire themselves. I went back to the desk and asked to officially complain. I had looked through and seen that it was not very busy. The lady at the desk stated that a few people had left and that they didn't want to let people in when a full service could not be offered but that we could come in if we wanted. On entrance there were 4 people sat in here!!!

Very disappointing service! Food was ok but was lunch menu and drink service was varied but the whole chew to get entrance was very offputting!

User

Used the lounge on Wednesday 23rd August and would most definitely not use it again. The guy on reception was very pleasant, happy and smiley but that's where the pleasantries ended. The range of food and drink was very poor for the price you pay. I stood at the bar for a good 10 minutes while the girl behind it was having a phone conversation, whilst I get that she may have been dealing with an important call a little bit of acknowledgement would have been courteous, however I was pretty much ignored. Once she had finished her call and did acknowledge me she was pretty miserable to be fair. The only positive thing I'll say about it is it was nice and quiet. I'll not be using the Aspire plus lounge again, I'll just stick to Burger King next time.

User

Tried for an hour to connect to the wi-fi without any success. Food choice....there wasn't really any! One pasta dish or a chick pea curry. Dried bread buns. Couple of packets of crisps. Small salad bowl. No biscuits, cakes, scones etc. Manager was very helpful and understanding but the lounge is certainly not worth the money. This was not the good start to our holiday that we expected.

User

Total waste of money. We have used this lounge on numerous occasions, sometimes up to 3 times a year but noticed on the last few visits how the service & standards have declined.

The food is terrible, very little choice and the freshly cooked food is inedible.

The service is very poor, waiting for an age for a staff member to show up and serve you a drink, and on the last not one table was cleared in the 2 hours we were in the lounge.

Save you hard earned money and use the bars and services up stairs, there is nothing special about this lounge.

User

Total waste of money, food/snack selection was very poor, staff weren't hospitable in the slightest, took ages for items to be re-stocked & the place was generally unclean the shelves need a good clean, toilets were not pleasant at all - won't be booking again, shame as generally we enjoy the lounge before a flight but this was not great at all.

User

Paid £91 for me, husband and 2 teenage boys. What a complete waste of money. Hot food on offer was curry - tiny plates, ran out of rice and paltry salad. A few dried up pastries on offer and that was pretty much it.. Tough if you don't like curry. My son had small ham roll, crisps and a coke - really worth £23 - not!!! Really disappointed as we'd had a great experience in Eidinburgh Aspire. Won't be back to the Newcastle one

User

Never again, staff disappear all the time, food is poor quality and the plates are the size of a saucer so you have to go back. There's a notice up saying that they'll challenge you if you have more than one drink as you can't get on an aircraft intoxicated ( are they joking, in Newcastle) maybe if it was after 6 pints!! Clearly trying to save money and not offer a relaxing pre holiday treat! Wine offer is very poor too. Don't bother, go to one of the bars or restaurants in the main terminal, the quality and experience is so much better

User

Just wish I’d read these comments before myself and 8 friends used the lounge early November..... I’d originally tried to prebook to get a bit of discount to be told it was up to capacity, on the day we went to lounge and just by chance there was room for us!!! We all paid our £29 !! As mentioned in another comment the man on the front desk was very welcoming and friendly but it did end there! The staff inside the lounge were miserable and not at all helpful... At one point we all laughed at the same point( which is not permitted) and we were told by someone called carol to keep the noise down as it was upsetting others in the lounge! Because there weren’t many people in myself n friends asked some of the people if we had disturbed them(with this 1 laugh) and everyone said no they didn’t even notice! At this point we finished our coffee n left! What an absolute waste of 270 quid! Definitely won’t use this lounge again... been in most airport lounges which are great value and great staff. This one is one on its own if I was you I’d avoid it😡
