A piece in this months Horsham Pages which gives an insight into why we are putting on our summer show this year in aid of The National Autistic Society.... we would love to have the support of our students and their families at this event, so please get in touch if you’d like some tickets - a fun evening of entertainment for a great cause. Thanks folks, Drew
All set for opening night of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I’m glad I only brought a small set up with me, there’s not much room in this pit!
Drew modelling our National Autistic Society T-Shirts for our upcoming project ‘Raife Unplugs the Musicals’ please come along for an evening of great entertainment in aid of a wonderful charity close to our hearts....
All set and ready to play some Latin and Swing this week in Littlehampton
A big thank you to all of our students and parents for a great term. Have a wonderful summer!
We still have a few spaces left for our Samba Jam Workshop on August 30th. Get in touch soon to reserve a spot - all welcome.
Private pupil Ethan has always had a great talent for playing by ear. However a few weeks ago he started an intense journey, learning to read the music on the page. He’s already playing a Grade 2 piece. Great work Ethan #youngpercussionist
Yesterday Year 5 drum student Evan joined us at Turning Point to take part in a short film we are making - It’s great for students to take opportunities to perform and build their confidence. Thanks Evan! #filmextra
Yesterday we were very proud to have the opportunity to showcase our summer production ‘Raife Unplugs the Musicals’ at Horsham’s Funday Sunday. Great to see some students and their families in the crowd too. Here’s one of the songs they performed. https://youtu.be/jn5ge5f6I_Q
This weekend we are lucky enough to have been given a spot on the stage at Horsham’s Funday Sunday - a brilliant FREE event for all the family, not only with the community stage, but also kids zone, sports zone, funfair and lots of stalls to look through. We are showcasing three songs from our show Raife Unplugs the Musicals between 3.15 and 3.45. Please come along and support us and have a great day out too. Opens 12 midday.
At the age of 10 I was given a marching Snare Drum by one of the Senior members of my local Boys Brigade. I was shown the basics and how to march in a straight line. This inspired me to learn more and more... and more about percussion. Please play this to your children, it’s an underrated form of performance. Enjoy!
Here’s an eclectic mix of Practice Diaries presented to me at the beginning of a lesson last week. I think I’m going to start a competition for the most interestingly folded piece of paper #origami
Year 8 student Callum, performing a drum roll using traditional grip.
Good Afternoon, we hope you are all enjoying this glorious weather! The books are now open for our Summer Samba Jam Workshop. This is an ideal opportunity for students and their family and friends to get creative and make music together. Please give us a call or email if you’d like to book a place or for more information, it’s open to all....
This week I have had the pleasure of playing percussion in the pit at The Capitol on Tanbridge House School’s production of ‘Made in Dagenham’. Well done to all the students involved, here’s my set up (yes, there really is a typewriter in the score).
Good afternoon. Thank you to everyone who has liked this page, especially Natalie for giving us a 5 star rating. We intend to keep updating the page and growing it over the summer. We will be posting pictures and videos of student’s (those with consent) lessons and achievements, upcoming events and workshops. Drew and Helen
