I founded the Company in 1999 in London after 15 years in investment banking. In charge with Listed Derivatives' sales team, I discovered the US hedge funds' activities at early stage back in the 1990's when they started to be active in European Yield curves' spreads. At that time, most US Macro hedge funds were covered by desks in London that rarely understood well the specificities of the European investment landscapes. The understanding of cultural behaviour of local central banks for example was key to understand market flows in currencies. I was successful in helping my US hedge funds's clients in their trading activities. I identified the increase in demand from european institutional clients in investing in US hegde funds. I created Asterias Ltd to participate to the institutionalization of the hedge funds' sector in Europe. Asterias became a source of reference for policy makers, investors as well as hedge funds. I published regular newsletter. I also participated to the development of hedge fund investments by launching 12 training modules on the topic of hedge funds, training sales forces, back office, compliance officers in banks, family offices and asset owners. I had to downsize the activity post 2008 and operated then as a strategic advisor to emerging funds.
