Aston Performing Arts Academy (Apaa) Description

APAA is a very dynamic organisation with an innovative and entertaining approach to music and performance. This eclectic inner-city project was set up in the summer of 2000. The aim was to provide a creative arts program and performance opportunities for young people from the ‘inner city’ areas of Birmingham and to consequently connect the Arts with the Community.

Aston Performing Arts Academy is a unique initiative which provides music, drama and dance tuition in both individual and ensemble settings. Students are made up of young and mature people demonstrating a high level of commitment to singing, performing, music arrangement and production.

Young musicians, actors and dancers are being created in a unique community arts initiative that’s broadening the horizons and aspirations of young people from the inner city areas of Birmingham

APAA is also home to ‘Elements of Song’ a professional performance group that provides quality sound and entertainment to major events around Birmingham. They have performed at LG Arena, NIA, The ICC and Symphony Hall just to name a few. Elements of Song bring innovative and entertaining elements to live music and performance. The energetic performance group have quickly been referred to as the UK’s first Urban Glee because of their unique approach to live music and performance.
