Aston Village Fc Description

Aston Village Football Club were formed at the start of the 2010 /11 football season joining Rotherhams District Sunday leagues Division 8. After a strong 2nd half finish to our season we secured a 5th place finish in our maiden year with Ashley Layne finishing divisions runner up leading goal scorer with 32 league goals in 20 games. Village made Afew new signings in the summer leading upto the 2011 /12 season being elivated upto Div 6. Full of confidence from the off Aston Village FC achieved their first taste of silverware by clinching Top spot and taking away the divisions title as champions scoring over 100 + goals en route, where Ashley Layne went one better this season and walked away as the divisions leading goal scorer. We had been formed for two years at that point and still didn't know our standard so has soon as the chance to play in Rotherhams div 1 became available Village didn't hesitate to make the leap and to make a name for themselves. Jumping 5 divisions we started our Div 1 2012 /2013 campaign off in good fashion winning 3 out of the first 5 league games the belief then filtered through the team that we could challenge the top end of the division and make a push towards Premiership football. Jason Short had a season to remember finishing the Divisions runner up leading goal scorer and taking Village to new heights with a very respectable 3rd place finish and guaranteeing a premiership place for the upcoming 2013 /2014 calendar.
