At Your Dog'S Pace - Dog Training, Behaviour And Care Description

Over 15 years of animal related work experience along with currently being a provisional member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC).

Since Graduating in 2011 - BSc (Hons) Animal Behaviour, I worked at a dog behaviour and training centre specialising in the behavioural consultations along with practical rehabilitation work. Since graduating from LJMU, I have completed the BIPDT course achieving 2nd Grade in August 2012. In 2015 I have also completed and passed the APBC Practical Assessment.

I further my knowledge and practical skills by attending seminars on a regular basis.

I don't advocate the dominant theory, which means no harsh punishments or quick fixes are used. Positive reinforcement reward based methods are used when dealing with problematic canine behaviours.

Services shown below are available in the Buckshaw Village, Chorley, Leyland and the surround areas.

Canine behaviour consultations
Practical 121's
Group and solo dog walking
Pop in visits

Puppy classes are now being held in Leyland on Thursday evenings.

Little Millie will be coming out on solo walks with me from next week 🐾😊

This is a great way to practice timing if you use a clicker/verbal marker to capture a behaviour you want πŸ˜„ I got it first time, can you manage to get it first time too? πŸ™‚

Some photos of the dog walks/visits over the last few days 😊🐾

A great resource, it's so important to be able to recognise subtle indicators of stress to prevent our dogs feeling the need to go over threshold when they encounter things that worry them.

This is some great info πŸ™‚

The reasons why they do it, it's not the obvious answer!

This is a good way of thinking when training your dog. It's important to be aware of what training criteria you're setting for them and whether it'll be achievable for your dog to succeed. Variables to consider are distraction, duration and distance (3 Ds).

New faces in the puppy class tonight 🐾🐾

Investing in doing a puppy course helps set your puppy up to succeed in the future a recent study suggests..

Duncan on his 30 minute visit today 🐾
We played tug, did a scent game in the garden and did a short walk which included building positive associations with things going on around us πŸ™‚

We made progress! πŸ™Œ
Theo is a nervous rescue dog that's unable to see with being blind.
Since living with his new family I've gone round to do a 30 minute home visit weekly and gradually seen progress where Theo will play with me, take treats and for the first time today he jumped on the sofa and chilled with me!
... Soon I think we'll be able to start going out for a walk wants he's feeling more confident with me 🐾😊

Grooming without fear or force is the only way a dog should be groomed. Dawn from Mutz Cutz in Bamber Bridge is running a day workshop on Sunday for Β£65 which will go through both practical and theory to help with grooming your dog using force free methods and Tellington ttouch techniques to ensure your dog begins to build positive associations with being groomed and handled πŸ™‚
