Our jungle plants are loving this extreme hot weather!! We have some beautiful Colocasia, Ensete, Banana, Hedychium and flowering Cannas. TheyŌĆÖre easy to care for, just give them plenty of water and feed regularly. Grow in pots or plant in borders, great for that exotic tropical look.

This fantastic weather has bought out the best in our plants. Just keep watering and feeding your pots and borders in this hot weather. We have some new arrivals coming in this week, so look out for further posts.

Just a little reminder about your plants in pots! Keep them watered every 2/3 days and feed every 10/14 days through to October. Athelas sell two types of bottled liquid fertiliser. One for tree ferns and one for palms, olives, bananas and shrubs. Both cost ┬Ż5 each.

A lot of customers ask about plants for Japanese Gardens, so we have laid out a selection to help with this particular garden design.

New in the nursery this week, Dicksonia Antarctica from Tasmania. All now potted up. Once the weather warms up fronds will start to uncurl and look majestic. Sizes range from 1/2ft to 8ft. TheyŌĆÖre a must in any tropical garden and a real shade lover .

Due to the warm weather last week the Acers in the nursery have burst into life with some beautiful vibrant colours. We have many different types and sizes with prices ranging from ┬Ż25.00 up to ┬Ż695.00. Acers are best kept out of the wind and in a semi shady spot, they are all hardy.

Now spring has finally arrived, everything in the nursery is bursting into life. One of the many to watch is the magnificent fern. We have around 20 varieties, all very different and very hardy. Some are evergreen and some are deciduous. A must have in a shady garden.

Wow , how lucky are we to have this amazing family run independent nursery so close . We've been past here a few times and decided to have a look. Wow what a find. So many plants to choose from a lot of which are not normally found in garden centres. Shame we don't have a bigger garden to put some in. Hope cottage tea shop next to it is worth a visit too.

I'm a cactus enthusiast and I've been to many a cactus nursery since I was little and this is the best one for cacti I've ever been to! The cacti are always looking very healthy and a nice size, they can be too small in other places, and don't survive especially if over watered. I live some distance away so each time I'm in the area, I make a trip here. Thanks for a good nursery. JOHN

I use Athelas all the time as I am a landscape gardener. The service is superb and the range of plants is fantastic. Its great to see a family run business that sets the standard.

I often visit this nursery and have seen it grow over a number of years. I always come away with a plant or too. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and there is always a wide selection of plants on offer. Particularly more tropical ones and amazing mature cacti.

I just bought lots of plants to use for my sons wedding. I know I can rely on good quality plants every time. Thanks guys see you in a few weeks for some more :-)

Excellent service and attention to detail..... was allowed to walk round and offered help and support didn't feel rushed in any way and Was shown a vast selection ...... so purchased a large range of plants ..... can't wait for them to arrive and get them in the garden .... highly recommend this nursery

Both myself and my parents loved our first visit today. Im a cacti nut and went home with a beauty in flower and fell inlove with another I will have to save up for.
