Main Duties and responsibilities for Laundry Assistant:
• To collect dirty laundry from each unit and sluice room on a daily basis. • Sort all garments, fabric and linen into types for separate washing cycles, including clothes for specialist cleaning e.g. dry cleaning only. • Ensure that a regular supply of detergent and fabric conditioner is provided and ensuring the stock level is checked daily and stock ordered when necessary.... • To ensure correct usage of coloured bags as laid down in the Laundry policies and procedures in accordance with Infection Control, including during Infection outbreaks such as MRSA and C Diff. • To use washing equipment according to manufactures instructions. • Hand wash items where necessary, e.g. wool and silk items. • Ensure that all laundry is thoroughly dried, folded neatly and placed in the correct trolley for returning on a daily basis. • Ensure all residents clothing is marked correctly and stored in individual laundry baskets to be collected by the Care Assistants on a daily basis. • Care of clothing as to the manufactures instructions, e.g. ironing and pressing laundry. • To follow uniform policy, including use of protective clothing when required, for e.g. goggles, aprons and gloves. • Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures to include the COSHH regulations.
Main Duties and responsibilities for housekeeping Assistant:
• To thoroughly clean the Residents bedrooms and En-suite Bathrooms, Lounges, Alcoves, Pantries, Communal areas and corridors, Visitors toilets, staff changing rooms and any other areas as specified by the Home Manager, ensuring a high standard is maintained at all times. • Replenish soap and toilet paper in bathrooms and ensure that bathroom floors, counters and fixtures are properly disinfected. • Clean mirrors and windows along with polishing fittings and fixtures • Maintain a good appearance of windows, door frames and curtains by cleaning and dusting on a regular basis. • To thoroughly mop, dust and vacuum in the relevant areas, adhering to the Daily Cleaning Audit checklist. • To steam clean/shampoo carpets within the Home when required Other considerations: • To be aware of the guidelines relating to the use of cleaning and audit checklists, used on a daily basis. • To wear the correct protective clothing as laid down in the Homes policies and procedures. • To adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures including the COSHH regulations and Infection Control. • Ensure that the correct usage of colour coded cleaning equipment is followed and the cleaning trolley is replenished on a daily basis.
